SEATTLE AREA: Postponed Ride (We'll figure out another weekend to go ride)

Just discovered a pretty significant oil leak on the left side. Either I wasn't looking carefully when buying this bike, or it wasn't there, or seller cleanned it very well. Perhaps it is the oil change I did on it. Wasn't a synthetic oil, but some high quality Castrol with something synthetic in it.

At any rate, tonight will clean it well and try to see where it is coming from. Guessing either oil pan or left side crankcase. Then will need to order gaskets and replace. Speaking of, what is a good motorcycle parts place in the area? I work in Bellevue.

Cheers,
Jenya

In Bellevue?   :dunno_white:  There's a Suzi/Ducati dealer on NE 24th I think....  (Left side if you're heading towards downtown)

Bent Bike?  Aurora Suzuki?

Jenya

Yeah,

I tried Suzuki dealership on 20th. Eastside Road-something. Too many salesmen there for my comfort.

Everytime I go in there... it's near closing time, they're bringing the bikes in, and some dorky salesman drops one of the bikes. I don't think I'd ever buy a bike from there.

I work in Bellevue too, down near Factoria mall. :)

Jenya

And dudes who work there have typical salesman attitude - push, push, push...
For example, I asked a guy there if a fuel injector cleaning additive would work on carbs and he said " Yeah, sort of". I said "I'll pass, thanks", turned away astarted walking away when I heard him say to another guy "Not really".

Would much rather find a place owned by an honest knowledgable person, but those are far in between. I still may use this Eastside place to have them order things for me.

My bike is not a very heatly state at the moment - leaks oil, doesn't rev well, doesn't start well. Really need to go over it and tend just about everything.

Hey, I work near Factoria mall too. Well actually near movie theater.

Cheers,
Jenya

If we did a ride and bbq that would be sweet! I have the perferct place with lots of bike parking at my house. The only set back is ......I need to get a new grill. My old one rusted out. I'm working on getting one of those super high-end stainless bbq grills. Not the cheapo ones from Home Depot or Walmart. I'm talking true stainless so it will not rust out like all the other grills I've had. We can plan the ride and bbq for sometime in the future. In the mean time a ride would be sweet. Some back roads.....Snoqualime Falls....who knows.....

Hopefully I'll have some details soon...  Anyone riding up from OR?  I know one person is...   :icon_razz:

I have an end time of about 6 (I think), 'cause of my show in Bremerton that night...

RVertigo

OK...  So, I was informed that I have to figure out where we're riding...  Any suggestions?

I was thinking to start out a little south, since some people are coming from way south...

syphon

Perhaps somewhere arount Mt. Rainier. I don't know the area that well, but I hear there's a lot of good riding down there.

RVertigo

I gotta wonder if the roads are all open now...

Not sure what road around Snoqualmie... Last time I was out that way, the road was HUGE and straight...   :icon_confused:

I was kinda thinking HW 20...  I hate when people make ME think of the ride...

Hw 202 going through Snoqualmie Falls is actually not a bad ride, but short.  It ends at North Bend. Unless we take turn to Carnation. But Carnation ride is rather dull. Hw 20 seems like a neat ride, but somebody expressed a concern for a long ride for people coming from the South.

What about Hw 101 loop? Now, I don't know Seattle area that well. Haven't lived here long enough. But just from looking at the map it looks interesting and closer for people coming from OR.

Modified first post with a possible trip from south to north...  (Since a few people might be coming from WAY south).

i'm truckin it up, cause i have some other things i'm doing while i'm up there, and don't feel like DD'n on the bike when i have a perfectly crappy truck to crash. btw, if you have a gstwin.com sticker on your bike you get into RV's show for free., if any of the other portland carnies wants a ride up i have room for 3-4 more bikes.
the left side of the bike is always from the riders point of view.

syphon

Huh, never really ridden that far from home before. I've only had limited freeway experience.

RVertigo

We can get to either location without taking the freeway...

They're just ideas...  No one has said they like them though.

syphon

Have there been any decisions? When and where are we meeting?

RVertigo

No one has really said what they want/don't want...  (Other than you saying that you're not into freeway)...

Last weekend I rode around 2up on the roads I already know (basically the same route we did last time)...  It's an hour+ in each direction.

So, the question is...  How long does everyone want to ride?  I have no idea what time Davipu is supposed to get to town (just txt'd him), but I know I gotta be home around 6:00 to get ready for the show later than day.

If we end up starting later in the day, we can just meet up somewhere around in Issaquah and ride from there...  Or if we start out early in the day, we can meet somewhere else (depending on where everyone wants to ride)...  I know we can get down to Auburn without taking freeways...  Or we can all ride together in the far left lane in a group of riders (safety in numbers) all the way down...

Now here's the bad news:  "20% chance of precipitation" on Saturday.

I never said that. I just said I didn't have much experience on it. :)

Even then, since I made that post, I ended up riding to Stanwood (way the hell up north by Camano Island) to visit a friend.

I'll be fine with whatever you choose.
