Nice pick brembo ,looks good :)

Quick question to you guys ,im about to get my 1000km service and im going to get the dealer to show me how to set the rear spring ,what setting do you guys have your suspension set at .?.
I did a search but ,you end up with 10000000 posts on different questions.
Don't know what to tell you ,im not a racer just cruising and do freeway and some small twisty riding and weight 80kg.
I know it's a personal thing ,for your riding style ,but if most of you have the same setting ,i will start on that setting and work on it from there ,i probably wouldn't tell the difference.?.
Mine is still set in the middle factory setting.

Oh, And is $300 the right price for a 1st service ,sounds abit $$$?
cheers Sled.

I've got the rear preload set to..... *runs outside to check* 6 I think. I set it so the static sag was roughly 3cm between loaded and unloaded. NFI if it's setup right, or what the other settings ride like since I set it that way after I bought it. All I can tell you is the stock suspension is like riding a roller coaster on bumpy roads  :icon_confused:

Service wise I'm not sure on prices, never been to a dealer for one, and the guy I went to shut up shop recently. That said, $300 seems a bit steep for an oil change and a few spot checks.

Brembo thats a great pic you should post that one on the main board
Sleddog $300 is about right you will get shocked by some of the prices they ask it will come down to what oil they use and when the valves need checking that one is ouch and usally dosnt need doing but they check it anyhow but the rear shock will come down to a personal feel for your own weight I weigh in at a whole 55kg and use to have it set to 2 the standard was 3 you should try three for now and bump it up to 4 at about 6000k's but I could not stand the standard shock so I replaced mine with a Koni I got of Ebay that was old stock its a lot firmer but has more adjustabilty and much better dampening then the orginal if you can get an aftermarket it well worth the money as well as a set of front springs haveing said all that I spoke to a bloke at the snowy run he had last years model and was stoked with the suspension it had so maybe the changed the spring rate in the front end the rear still looked the same :thumb:

Thanks guys i will check with the dealer and see what they recomend as well, for the springs setting.

$300 ,about right ,thats good to know ,cheers.
The only real time the front fells soft on mine is ,when i go up my drive way and i hit th 2inch ,lip of the gutter
It bounces around abit .
I did alot of 60kph ,hard breaking practice yesterday and the fronts not that bad ,i remember the cb250 in the L's training ,it felt like i was going over the bars ,and that bike had only 500km on it.

Just a reminder for everyone in NSW;

Australia Day double demerit points
Double demerit points are in force over the Australia Day long weekend. This applies to all speeding, seatbelt and motorcycle helmet offences from midnight Tuesday 24 January to midnight Sunday 29 January.

I'm not to worried most cops will be at cronulla and other places and the thing I have found is that its seems more of a threat then anything I use to not go out on DDP weekends then I found there seems to be less cops out then a normal day then i thought well with the govenment cutting funds to all servicers in the country why pay cops time and a half and double time for public holidays why not just threaten motorists with DDP that way they slow down cops take holiday the ones that aren't rostered on and the public has once again be decieved.
Having said all that its only a guess from observation when I am out maybe I'm just lucky not to of been caught yet, just for curosity sake have any of you been booked or your mates booked on a DDP weekend.
Also as I'm going on the canberra ride on saturday the group will probably stay at the limit anyway, maybe.
Hope to see some of you there  :thumb:

I'll be taking the car tomorrow, so I'll just set the cruise control  :icon_mrgreen:

I've noticed that in the country areas the coppers seem to sit just inside the town limits & get people who haven't slowed down to 50  :icon_rolleyes:

The RTA puts alot of funding into the HWP, mainly cause they get it back and then some via fines etc. This morning alone I spied 6-8 HWP cars around the Shire, most going away from Cronulla where they've been posted for the past month. A mate got pinged on a DD weekend, 6 points for 2-15k over.

I'm going to be in Canberra Saturday, but I'm staying away from the group ride, not my idea of fun being stuck in a group of several thousand bikes on 300km of highway. I'm hoping the mass ride will draw the HWP cars away from the coast. I'll be going down to Batemans then inland then to a mates place for a party Saturday night.

Hi Galahs,
Welcome aboard and the price for your service is about right maybe a little cheaper then what I paid at Syd City but the big cost is when they have to check the valves that is a big sting in the price and the worst thing is they never need adjusting at the 12000 mark but they have to do it for warranty its abit of a rort and its funny how my friends BMW's were actually cheaper to service then my GS500 go figure :thumb:

I paid $295 last month ,so you did good on price.

The name of the bloody pie shop you guys were talking about is...

The Robertson Pie Shop...LMAO.

I normally go to the Roberson Pub instead, much better views from their beer garden.

Make sure you stop at the Jamberoo Pub sometime also, quaint little place.

I'm in Sydney, toying with the idea of converting a GS 500 into an off roader, an all roads Adventure bike.

I'm on an Aussie forum at www.netrider.net.au

A couple of GS riders there also (like me mate Sleddog). We go on week day and weekend rides often, the forum now has a NSW section, mainly Sydney riders, drop over for a visit and join up for a ride in the future guys, all welcome.

Cheers: Jaq.
