Well it came today. I'm a 17 year old male living in Ontario. Last year I paid $1900 or so, this year I got the bill for $6842. Bye bye GS.
What are you guys paying this year compared to last?

I get blamed for EVERYTHING around here!
:woohoo:

There must be something you can do, contact the media.. I know alot of other canadians are getting hosed.. get the story out there

shik

Well, as a newly started driver at age 21 I have to pay around 520$ a year.

Full coverage would be 1450$ a year.

Ofcourse that's in Denmark where prices always have been insane (In my opinion)

Greetings, shik.
Yes im Danish, but cannot be eaten!

Holy freakin crap, man. You get a buttload of tickets, or what? And is that Ontario, California or Ontario, Canada?

I hope my insurance isn't too much... That's why I sold my car and got a bike...

hmmmnz

holy crap thats madness, i pay £98 a year and thats expensive because im on an international licence not a stupid brittish one. do you guys have to have insurance over there??
if not id be tempted to just put asside $50 a week in case something  does happen. if it doesn't you have $2500 at the end of the year to blow on some thing.
i would have thought that the govt would be trying to incourage m/c to save the fossel fuels and all that

Yes, Canadian dollars, because the way the dollar is going it would probly be around 6000 American. I'm in Ontario Canada and I have a perfectly clean driving record. My insurance broker is Kingsway. I read that thread a few weeks ago about Kingsway and other companies putting the GS into the super sport catagory...looks like they really did it. Its the law to have insurance here so I don't think theres a way out of this one. I can't beleive its nearly seven thousand dollars to insure a GS500, it's such a tame little bike.
Does anybody want to buy a 99 GS500 with around 23000 kilo's on it?

Can you increase your deductibles?    Have you had an accident?   Or speeding tickets?

Can you not switch to another insurer. I don't know exactly how it works in other countries but over here theres so many insurers to choose from. Im 17 and have been quoted £512. I have a one years no claims bonus and a years experience of riding. I had to shop around though. I've had quotes of near a thousand, some around 750. But £512 is with the insurer's im with on my current bike. If you can shop around i would. Bike insurence differers GREATLY over here. Some places wouldn't quote me on my dads yam thundercat because they won't insure my age on that bike. Some quoted me 750!!! for a bike which will do over 160. Its really crazy is insurence.

I have a `Stupid British License`Most people who live in the UK do! I just paid slightly less than £60 for a years cover. Its a blanket policy that covers me for my 3 present bikes, my GS500,  XT350 and 400/4. Nothing `stupid` about that price!! Mind you insuring them as 10yr+ old classics with limited mileage does help, but 20 years no claims bonus goes even further.

hmmmnz

well thats it i havn't got that because im fresh over ther and only on a work visa. i dont get to transfer my no claims across, im not complaining about how much i pay when i see how much chris has to pay.
how the hell do they think that a 17 year old can come up with that sort of cash, i d swich insurers if i were you there must be some one over there who has a much cheaper rate than that

I have Maryland Cycle Direct (actually insured by Interstate Auto Insurance Co)

I pay $77/year and have the max limits (100k/300k).

I also paid my annual bill 3 weeks late (forgot to mail the check) and just got my new card Saturday with no issues.

GS = Super Sport category??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

*takes a deep breath*

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA.

*rimshot* That's great. GS in the super sport category.  :icon_rolleyes:

Obviously, you need to move to the US where we recgonize the GS as the puny little lovable bike that it is  :thumb:

Kingsway took the GS off the blacklist as of may 17 i believe,
keep calling other places if kingsway doesn't go well...

Call Mark Halperd.

Chris_B

The insurance comapnies around here won't touch you if your under 25, or alot fo them anyways. I can get my bike through Kingsway because my dad is on it, and we have everythign else under them too. I'll have to call around though, just to make sure.

Umm...I can't believe they jacked it up that much. Seems like it would be some kind of mistake. I would contact them and ask why, and then if they don't give you a better price which would be close to the first price, I would tell them to $#@* theirselves and go elsewhere.
