is it true that the GSX-R shock with the attached resevoir will not fit? is it because the airbox is in the way? I ask because I've taken out the airbox for pod filters and it looks like there is sufficient space between the shock itself and the battery. Remote resevoir ones are hard to find. shocks w/ attached resevoirs are a dime a dozen on ebay... thanks.

youll get it in there if your air box is gone, i have just had a look on my bike(pods as well) and there will be no issues at all, and its a nice yellow shock too bonus
pod filters, costum r6 quill exhaust(no baffles)40/140 jets, heavy duty springs, sv650 rear shock, gsxr srad tail, bandit 600 4.5 inch rim with 150 tyre, gsx twin disc front end "1995 pocket rocket"  ridden by a kiwi in scotland

They will fit. Done it on several bikes. I make a new upper mount, but not required. Best to get one that the reservoir is not offset to the left, it may interfere with the frame fuel valve.
Common sense in not very common.

thank you very much that's all i needed to hear.
I searched on ebay & only found one older model shock that this asshat is selling for $85. I can get a newer one for $30.  :thumb:

I forgot to mention that you will need a GSXR pivot linkage as well. They are shorter and you will need the clearance at the swingarm. I was just fighting with a 04 1k pivot and it will not work. It does not put the shock where it has to be. Needs to be a pre-03 pivot. Not sure of all the years or when they switched. Also, the frame mounts will need to be widened with a little grinding for the GSXR pivot to fit.

how difficult will it be to fit the top of the gsx-r shock to the GS mount without your custom upper mount? what is your upper mount? do you sell it?  :icon_mrgreen:

also, with the gsx-r lower linkage rotating the shock more vertical, do you have any clearance issues with the engine side of the shock hitting that hollow tube part of the frame that runs between the shock & the engine?

Here are a couple of pics during the initial fabrication, before painting. I have since added a couple of side braces to this one. On later ones I used thicker material and changed the design for more strength. I have some other pics after painting but being black you really can not see much. I am working on another which I could take more pics if needed. AS for clearance, the shock preload rings sit just below the tubular mount. It is a tight fit but it does fit.
