I d try the drill first. But just turn the knob at the bottom. Lock them on and twist.

Sounds like I missed a frustrating day in the Reseda garage.
I bought a bunch of fuel line of different sizes last week.  I have a fair amount left if you're interested.
It would at least get you running again.
I used auto fuel line as a temporary fix till the OEM order came in. Very expensive, like 8-9 dollars a foot.
Compare that to about 1-2 dollars a foot at Napa.
Only one hose actually had a custom bend in it, they charged the same for plain straight hose.
The stock Suzuki sizes are next to impossible to match exactly.
I think the Napa hoses would work fine as a permanent replacement.   I used it during my test rides last week.

Call me if your working on this again tomorrow, I'll bring by the hoses.
It sounds like you have the washers already, but I do have 2 extra of those.

Quote from: Jenya on May 28, 2006, 08:38:19 PMOn the different subject, what does jet needle do? What does shimming it accomplish?
When the butterfly opens, airflow through the carb increases. This results in a vacuum (due to the higher speed in the narrow duct, read up on Bernoulli's law aif you are interested in the details) in the throat of the carb. This vacuum is lead above the diaphragm and there lifts the slider with the attached needle.

The needle's function is to regulate fuel flow according to amount of airflow in the mid throttle range. Shimming the needle makes midrange richer (by lifting the needle -> enabling more fuel flow).

no your not right, they go under the c clip which is that little thing attached to the needle. this will lift the needle. sweet?? :icon_mrgreen:

As far as fuel hose go to your local lawn mower shop and get TYGON hose. Its a silicone based hose its bright yellow so it looks better than black.Best of all its see through so you can see whats going on with your fuel supply.See through hose helped me find my bad petcock

Left hand drill and drill bits.  Sears has them, so does Snap On and Matco, probably Mac too.

that's because ALL stock parts on a gs are soupposed to take 6mm fuel line.  btw cycle gear has fuel line for 1.50 a foot, and you need 4 feet. the line should be tight enough to seal without the clamp and then the clamp is to keep it from falling off, so it is soupposed to be really tight.   and if you can't get these together i have a good set of 89-00 carbs i'll swap you straight across.
the left side of the bike is always from the riders point of view.

Make that 7mm.  (See this old post and the referenced Bike Bandit diagram.)

i want to thank charlie for coming over and giving me a hand. We got the broken screw off with a impact screwdriver (i bought a new one cause the old one i didnt trust).

Anyway we found a BIG problem.. the shimming needles that are used for the older bikes DO NOT work for my 2001. Charlie had brought some of his shims and i had mine. Needless to say neither of them fit.

Problem is that the needle has a 4 sided guide that holds the needle in place.. and that is preventing the larger washers from going down the shaft.

so the people who have done shimming on 01+, what kind of washers did you use, the #4 ones dont work, and the stuff charlie brought (that he used on his bike) are no use either.
