Was minding my own business riding to work on my R6 this morning when all of a sudden my clutch lever lost all tension and stopped functioning.

Luckily, I was able to make 2 right turns and keep the bike moving long enough to get to a side street with no traffic.   

Hard to tell with no tools, but it looks like the clutch cable snapped.  I power-shifted the rest of the way to the bike shop (~3-4 miles) and then hoofed it to the office (~1 mile away). 

The bike shop isn't open yet,  so i'm not sure how much it will cost to fix yet

(I want to have it done today so that I can ride it home)

My honda did that to me once...you'd be suprised how many men who know nothing about bikes will stop in their trucks to see if you need help  you sure it snapped? Mine didn't snap it just came unhooked from inside the case (this was after 20 years of sitting in a barn). If it did snap, keeping your cables properly lubricated helps prevent that. If the stealer charges you an arm and a leg for that 

My clutch cable snapped at about 12,000 miles.  (See my 2 posts in this thread.)

As Onlypastrana199 indicated, I had never  lubricated my clutch cable up to that point.  There had been warning signs in the preceding days, but I didn't realize what they meant, so on I rode to my "doom".

Also my experience: A clutch cable does not just break like that. It lets go strand by strand, and you can feel that as changed feedback.

i caught mine holding on by two strands 4 months ago...just after i bought the bike. So, a word to the new owners of not-new bikes...check your cables. You can't really notice a change if it's half broken to begin with.
