Well....I decided that since I'm moving soon, and don't trust my GS in its current condition to make it the 900 miles to the new home; I went out and bought a beeeeautiful  SV650K6.

It has some hefty frame sliders on it, which is cool just in case I drop my new baby.

To be honest, I didn't get to put as many miles on the GS as I would have liked; but I'm sure that the SV will treat me very well.

Driving it home was pretty nice. It was about a 15 mile trip, with mixed speed roads (got lost). Instantly I noticed how easy it is to ride, more so even than the GS. The throttle response is crisp, and the suspension does a LOT better job at soaking up bumps and such than the stock GS suspension.
The power delivery is really nice. I love how much torque it has. I can be in 3rd gear at 10 mph and still have plenty of torque to accelerate into traffic.
I only have a few problems with it (not really problems, but things that are different). It seems as though it takes considerably more force on the handlebars to get it to lean, but that's alright. I had one other thing but I don't remember. The seat seems to be pretty comfortable. Gonna be an interesting 900 miles

I also got a helmet, jacket, and gloves for my fiancee so she can start riding as well. I wasn't too happy with the cost (7,700 dollars), but I'm sure it's probably worth it.  :icon_rolleyes:

But, so far so good....I'm just pretty giddy right now

normal. the front tire and wheel is bigger as are the fact you've got dual disks causing more gyroscopic effect. I felt the same thing when I test rode an SV and my RR is same-as are most other bikes compared to the GS

Heh, sweet. Yeah, they are super cool there. I like how they take you to every department and introduce you to everyone (it may be a money-making ploy...but I like it)...makes the whole experience seem that much more personal.
I need to make an appointment to have my lojack installed (was part of the whole extended crap thing...i.e. gap coverage, etc)...then I can rest at ease. Right now when I'm at work I'm going outside every 10 minutes to make sure it's still there.

Sweet bike.  The SV will be a lot more comfortable on a long road trip than the SV650S.  But it will still be pretty painful.

BTW, those frame sliders are Motosliders.  I crash tested them on my SVS and they are pretty much the greatest invention ever.  Went down at 40 mph and the frame slider saved everything but the shift level.  They are the best way to spend your money, by far, on the SV.

So far I've gone on teh same "long" distance trip (~100 miles) that I took a few times on the GS and it was considerably more comfortable.

Good to hear about the Motosliders...puts me a little more at ease about slowly pushing the envelope.  :thumb:
