Know that im finally going to order my jardine exhaust my neibour tells me that their is no point of putting an exhaust on if u dont upgrade ur breathing system. is this really true ? if so can i just drop in a kn filter or do i have to use a pod or lunch box?
thank you guys

tell him he is a knob end. i did my exhaust with out changing a thing, it ran heaps better with the new exhaust. if you change the filter from standard you will have to rejet.
you dont have to with the exhaust how ever.
pod filters, costum r6 quill exhaust(no baffles)40/140 jets, heavy duty springs, sv650 rear shock, gsxr srad tail, bandit 600 4.5 inch rim with 150 tyre, gsx twin disc front end "1995 pocket rocket"  ridden by a kiwi in scotland

ok... sorry to disagree but yess you will have to rejet with just an exhuast (if it is a full system).  If you're going to do the rejet and you have 30-40 extra around it would be more convenient to do a new air filter (k&N podfilter) while you're at it.  Rejetting for just a pipe can be touchy so I've heard.  For an extra 30 bucks just go and get all the performance out of the bike... its not like the gs couldn't use some more push.

Your jardine (if i remember your post) is $339
K&N will be 40 (high price... could be less)
Home made Jet kit (i'd talk you through it if you need some help) $15

Total price :
394 for everything.... I say just go ahead and do it.... that way you dont have to rejet again when you want to put the filter on it (and you WILL end up wanting to put the filter on it)

You dont have to do the air filter... that is true.... but you WILL need to rejet... why not spend 30 and save the time later when you decide to get the filter.

P.S. the pod filter saves a a bunch of room when by removing the airbox (i hate that airbox)

Well, "no point" is a relative term. If you are looking for performance, then yeah, he is mostly right. But if you just want your bike to sound better, then upgrading just the exhaust is fine. The air comes in the intake and goes out the exhaust.

From just a performance standpoint, Imma thinkin' upgrading the air intake system would yield better performance results than just upgrading the exhaust system, if you were only doing one of them. But as point out, might as well do both.
