hi

The headlight main beam indicator dash light has stopped working.  I have replaced the bulb but still nothing.

The headlight and all the other indicator lights are fine.  Any ideas where the problem might be?

Also if your bike was under warrantly would you expect wheel bearings to be covered?

Thanks for your help!

HA! Mine doesn't work either!

Also, there's no light on the tach but I bought it that way so I am not sure if it is supposed to have one or not.  :dunno:

I hope you don't mind me jumping on this post with my own similar problem.

My turn signal indicator on the dash stopped working a few weeks ago. I finally pulled the bulb to find the filament burnt out. I went to PepBoys and found a replacement for it (I think the number on the old bulb read 158 on it). Anyways, replacing it fixed the problem, but it worked one day, then another day it did not, then the next day it was ok again. I figured the connection was not good, but when I pulled the bulb the filament was bad again :x

Instead of putting in a new bulb I took the highbeam indicator bulb out, put it in the turn signal 's place, and put the new bulb in the highbeam indicator's place (You follow so far?) Now, this second bulb lasted only one day. What do I do? Is there a short or something?

Help :(

Also, lately my bike has been hard to start b/c my battery has drained. I've been having to keep it on the Battery Tender. I figure either the battery needs replacing or something is drawing its power. Not sure if this is related to my post above or not.

On the plus side, I've gotten good at push starting it lately

Does the headlight high beam work?
Answer this and we can go from there.

In general:

If the high beam doesn't work, the problem is in the dimmer switch or the wiring that is common to both the high beam headlight and high beam indicator light.

If the high beam does work then I would look at just the immediate wiring at the indicator lamp.

How do you pull those indicator lights out?

To answer the wheel bearing question I would say yes.........I would expect them to be covered. Under normal conditions you can expect a lengthy lifespan from wheel bearings. Unless they were faulty from new or you have pressure-washed them to death.

Okay, I did it, a lot more difficult and time consuming that it should be. I coudn't get the bulb socket out without taking the whole thing appart. Plus I have sm1 bars, so it made it even harder to work down in there.
