Hi all.....89 gs500e here...all stock.....rebuilding it for my g/f

What is the stock HP, Torque and Weight for this bike?

I am thinking of a stage 3 kit....w/pod filters...and a V&H pipe......

But I dont know if this makes alot of sense.....how many more HP/Torque will I be getting?

hmmmnz

about 2 hp more than standard  around 45hp give or take 5hp :icon_mrgreen:
pod filters, costum r6 quill exhaust(no baffles)40/140 jets, heavy duty springs, sv650 rear shock, gsxr srad tail, bandit 600 4.5 inch rim with 150 tyre, gsx twin disc front end "1995 pocket rocket"  ridden by a kiwi in scotland

Your mileage may vary.

I believe the consensus (spelling sucks srry) is that the unfaired bike like the 89' are the hot rods. Local bike shop at my place test rode mine and when I said like 40hp he told me I got a ringer. Will post Dyno runs when I get around to it. :P

These bikes are nothing to sneeze at I assure you. Sure an R6 will beat them, but I won't be cramping 5 miles down the road. But I've beaten a Lancer EVO VIII so phhhbbbtt...

As far as power the word seems to be:
1. K&N or Pods
2. V&H
3. Re-jet carbs

As far as suspension (Far more common to mod than engine)
Either:
Heavier oil, depending on rider weight
Or:
Race-tech springs.

(Stock suspension blows.)

As far as mods I'd talk to AlphaFire, because he's like god of this stuff.

I can't say anything about that because I had to clean up what the previous owner left for me, so no chances to play yet. Some people say re-jetting even a stock bike helps.

As always your mileage may vary. Oh yeah, stage 3..... Too many grand turismo sessions for you. (J/K no hard feelings)

Oh yeah, it's her first bike right? Plenty fast enough, leave well enough alone.

"stage 3" implies Dynojet.  I believe that the overwhelming consensus around here is DON'T GET A DYNOJET KIT.  Apparently, the dynojet carb jets introduce extra variables into the mix and make it very difficult to get the bike running well.
Sorry, I won't answer motorcycle questions anymore.  I'm not f%$king friendly enough for this board.  Ask me at:

I wont start a new tread for this question but here goes

I understand what a smaller front spocket and a larger rear sprocket do.  I understand the progressive fork springs do, ect. Point is I know why one does a lot of mods, but I dont understand what a rejet does.

I know this sounds stupid, but hlpplz

changes the air/fuel ratio. when you make i easy to get air in and out, you then need to add more fuel. which is what a rejet does,

on a EFI car ot bike you dont have to do this as it can do it itself
nee down mother F***ers

One would do this if one changed his or hers exhaust, or do it to give more fuel and give a kick
