A litre bike wont be much of a step up from the 750.

A v-twin liter bike probably makes less HP than a GSXR 750.  What's it make?  130 HP?  Plus it is more usable power.  Down low, where you need it.

If you can handle a Gixxer 750, you can handle a v-twin liter bike.  I would feel confident jumping on one right now.

I really like a couple of those full faired SV's... But I like how little the gixxers weigh, too... The SV1000 has 50 pounds over the GSX-R750... And the GSX-R1000 only weighs 5 pounds more than the 750...

Jake D

Yeah.  There is no doubt the Gixxer 750 and 1000 are pretty much two of the best and fastest bikes on the planet.

I just don't know if my first priority with a bike is having one that will scare me so bad my colon falls out.

I would prefer to not have to get the motor up to 14,500 RPM to feel some usable power.  On a Gixxer, by time you get into the power band, you're going 50 in first gear, 70 in second gear, 80 in third gear, 90 in fourth gear, 110 in fifth gear, 130 in sixth gear and then you either get to talk to the calamari sausage creature, or a cop.

Choose your poison.

Talkin about high revving bikes. I recently rode a 92 kwaka zxr400 - the bike im looking at purchasing. Holy cow that thing was scary fast. It doesn't feel to produce a great lot of torque but get it up to about 7000rpm in first and its like a rocket ship, quick through the gears changing at about 10-11k revs still in the powerband. In sixth at 10k it was doing about 110mph by the time it reached redline at 14500rpm!!!! it was doing 142. This is about what it topped out at w/ full micron race exhaust. Before you call me a squid i did this on an airfield. But that bike revd so high when i had my head behind the bubble it sounded like it was doing 200mph

Maybe a GSX-R600 wouldn't be to small after all...

Kasumi

gsxr-600: good for 160-170

gsxr-750: should do about 175 to 180

gsxr-1k: 186mph for the new models here in europe due to new laws meaning that all bikes have to be capped at 186 but remove the restriction and you should get 190.

hyabusa: 186 over here, unrestricted a dynod one streight out of the factory did 196 without any mods.

the sv650s will do 130mph

the sv thou i would think would pull 150-160 if your good, the sv is more talk due to vtwin engine.

Hey Jason D, I was looking at the Duc supersport 800.  Pretty decent bike but has two limitations.  1.  It's a Duc so valve adjustments are regular and not cheap.  2. and the bigger one for me, the front suspension is not adjustable.  I spent the extra $1000 and bought the Daytona 675.  I HIGHLY recommend the experience....

Queso

Sounds like a 600 is pleeeenty...

Kasumi

Yea it would be plenty i think, my dad has a Yam thundercat at the moment which is a 600 and that will do 160 flat out and its 6 years old and nowhere near as technical as the new 600's

The ZZR600R is a really good bike.  My man nick_villan is right.

That thing has great styling, good ergos, and a gobs of power.  It has like 110 hp!  Sheeesh!  Love, love, love the ZZR600R.

So sexy.  Soft skin.  Smooth chocolate lips.  Glistening. . .

The new one is the old ZX-6R. It's not the best bike though. By far, Kawasaki's best bike is the Z1000. Duh.

All I'm really looking for is fast, comfy, and good mileage. An ideal speed commuter. I don't really need a 200 mph race bike.

nick_villan
