Tire pressure? ooooh

How often do you check tire pressure?

And what's the avg time for your tire to normally lose pressure over a period of time?

Today on the highway I ran out of gas, surprisingly, because I just fueled up like half a week ago, didn't do more than usual riding. (Reserve didn't work, that's another curiosity all together).

I made a call and a tow guy came by to fill me up. But he noticed my front tire was flat looking... I couldn't tell myself... how did he see? Such a small tire.

He checked the PSI...      0.5   ..... yikes?

He pumped me up to 40 psi (recommendation marked on the tire).

These are new tires when I get the bike 3 months ago.

I paid him and off I went... wow I could feel a difference right away. Tomorrow I'm gonna get a nice gauge, and PAY ATTENTION.

Every two weeks.  BTW, reduce your tire pressure to 33psi, in the morning.  Tire pressure should be measured when the tire is cold.  It gives more consistant readings.

Yes, every two weeks.

Like lubing the chain every 600 miles this is one of those "get down on your hands and knees jobs" that is easy to forget but it needs to be done, alternativley you can do what I did and fit a scotoiler and preasure indicator valve caps both of which work very well, not cheap, the price of being idle.

I check it also about 1-2 week intervals. I also live so distance away from my bike, which is in a guarded parking lot. So i cant carry an air pump to it, and tires get little warm until i reach it. If anyone else has this situation he is a tip: in the evening when ending riding go pump the tires a bit more maybe +4-5 psi (0.3bar) and store the bike. In the morning just reduce the pressure measuring it and you will have perfect pressures.

Btw dont buy cheapest air measure unit, they can be innacurate. I bought a small one so i can carry it in my pocket.

I use a bicycle pump to pump up my tires.  Although, I did have to get a more expensive bicycle pump (I think it was $50; up to 115psi).
