The stealership guy said to go from 122 to 125 would be a waste, and recommended 135 with my setup... But the closest pilots they had to 40 were 45s... Would it be a bad idea to run 135 mains with the stock pilots on a 2000 GS?

hmmmnz

whats your set up?? basically unless you have changed to pod filters, then tell your dealer hes a tosser and slap him in the face with a wet fish.
if you went to 135s you would run very rich, stupidly rich.

Main 147.5
air screw 3.5
Have not had any problems
Mod's that effect this
Wileyco exhaust
K & N Lunchbox air filter
ths is on an 05 model and people you really should order you jets online and do it yourself it's not hard at all.
Pilot 22.5, Mid 65 , Mains 147.5, Mixture screw 3.5 turns out

Even if the voices aren't real they have some good ideas.

hmmmnz

the max i would go would be 127.5 with 40s and 2 shims under the needles. 125s would be fine with 3 turns out on the mix screw,
your dealer is an idiot and doesn't know very much about the gs
have a look at the rejetting matrix http://www.angelfire.com/mt2/mikesgs500/rejetting/Rejetting_Matrix.html
you can see in there that no one with a uni would even come close to running that large main jets

I am doing the jetting myself. I'm trying to buy some 05 carbs off ebay, though, so I might not even bother with this. As long as some dork doesn't outbid me at the last second, I'll be upgrading my carbs, and rejetting those.

Chris2P

I rejetted mine with 40's, 1 washer and 125 mains and got a HUGE improvement.
K&N Lunchbox,  40 pilots 140 mains 2 #4 washers, Yoshimura slip-on, Progressive suspension, gsxr 600 shock, sv mirrors

Give a man a fish, and you have fed him for a day.  Teach a man to fish, and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

i wouldnt bother myself. this mid mains are just another thing to go wrong in the carbs, it doesn't give any more hp and justs adds more money for a rejet.
i don't think any one has figured out what the midmains do yet, there doesn't seem to be much on the net about them. just rejet your old carbs they are tryed and tested,

Ah, well... I already got the 05's (with only 1500 miles on em!) I'm sure Suzuki knew what they were doing when they upgraded the carbs.

hmmmnz

yep im sure they did, now you have to get the accelerate plus decellerate cables as well, more money to spend on no profomance improvement :cookoo:
but hey have fun :icon_mrgreen:

.............."What exhaust and intake do you have?"

I rejetted and ran with stock filter and exhaust.  Saw a really big improvement in throttle from 2500 rpm to redline.

I just added a slip on exhaust and it really opened it up.  Motor runs much more free.

Well, whenever I get my new carbs, I'll look into what the 01+ GS owners with the V&H and UNIs had success with. Thanks, though.
