Thoughts on Drag bars.

Well I"ve had my drag bars on for  a couple of weeks now and I'm not sure if I'm gonna keep em.

I don't really like the way they put my weight on the bars.  I try to to use my legs to take some of the pressure off, but I can't seem to get in a decent relaxed posture for long with them.  There is also definitely more vibrations with them on.  I haven't decided what I'm gonna go for, but I have been looking at the superbike bars and also at the Daytona bars n AZ motorsports.  The one thing i liked about the stock bars is that i could sit pretty straight up and still have a decent reach to the bars when I wanted to.

ON the plus side the drag bars are a couple inches shorted and the steering response is phenomenal.  That and the new pirelli sport demons and the bike feels like its on rails.

just my 2 cents.

Jake-
I agree about the drag bars.  I can get into a comfortable enough position and I am not leaning on the bars much at all, but its not comfortable for a long haul.  The vibrations are killing me!!!  Even with the bar snake.

I actually was tinking about that on my way home last night.  Wish I hadn't just ditched my bars.  I may look into supersports as well... but I am not doing a cheap bar this time.  I want something heavy duty that will not vibrate so much.

Are the bars on the sv650 (not S) different?  They are risers but they are not as high.  Are they the same diameter?  Anyone know?  Would that be a possible change?

7/8" is standard, SV650 should be no different.

I also have the drag bars, love the position, but again, the vibration s#%ks. I am actually considering putting my stock bars back.  Glad I didn't spend the money on the bar snake.

The 4-bend supersports bars are a good happy medium between the flat drag bars and the ridiculously upright stock bars.  Different brands vary, but they tend to have a couple inches of rise and 2-4 inches of rearward reach.  The alloy bars are not not only lighter but will suck up more vibration, so the extra fiver or so is probably worth it.  I don't really think a bar snake will help all that much.

Better only one of us tried the bar snake....   :bs:

Looking at the bars on AZMotorsports, specifically the Daytona ones, which ones would the experts here recommend from these:

Suggestions please... I need to order some soon.  Also, if anyone who's reading this knows, I need some grips...  Some folks said Katana grips .. any particular year I should look for??

I've been really happy with my drag bars but I sprung for the Flanders brand bars.  I haven't had any trouble with vibrations in the bars.  Maybe the Bikemaster bars are lighter than the Flanders?  I know mine are fairly thick-walled tubing and the chrome quality is excellent.  On longer rides my wrists start to cry uncle but for normal commuting and regular getting around they are great.

mine are the "E23" with wide center and 30* pullback.  No problems with tank clearance on the '90 but I had to adjust my banjo for the windscreen.  I don't recall needing to for the bars.

As for the bar-end mirrors, I've gotten used to them but I really don't like them anymore.  They suck for quick glances and are pretty small.  I had to put some 3" blind spot mirrors on to see anything but things are still tiny and look like they are a mile away when they are right behind you.  I think I'm going to go back to some stock ones or something.  My stock ones were rashed up and thats why I got the bar-end mirrors
