I crashed less than a mile from my house. Would have been in the hospital 6 months or more without my gear. It was 90+ outside. Would have died without my helmet. Was still in the hospital for a week even with gear.

Sounds like the situation you were in...  Something to think about when you look at your gear and decide not to wear it...  How silly would you feel sitting in the hospital getting your road rash scrubbed out knowing that your pristine gear was sitting at home?
