I'm thinking about getting this...not to replace the GS, hell no. But to compare them, ride it, and probably sell it to my friend when he gets his money together.

Lowball 'em.

the price is waaay too high for a 9 year old Ninja500 that has been dropped.

(edit) The add doesn't mention the condition of the usual bits you have to worry about.  If everything is brand-spanking new, then it might be the right price.  If you are looking at worn tires, old brake fliuds/pads, sprocket/chain replacement, etc, then its too much.

around here it seems hard to find a ninja 500. I see them once in a while, but for a lot of money.

wow.  that is so different than the story here.  Baby-ninjas (250 n 500) are traded around like baseball cards here.  There is one for sale/trade at almost any time.   :dunno_white:

Point is...why are 250's priced so close to a 500? And where are people finding gs's for under 2k?

hehehe... he's selling his ninja because he's going into the Marines--I selling my gs because I'm going into the Air Force...
Goes to show you which force is the smarter one... the Air Force recruiter probably saw what he rode in on and turn him down, so he had to become a bullet sponge.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof, is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools....

Thanks to advances in automation, Nike shoes will be made by robots. Unfortunately, the robots will be made by children in Malaysia.

what did you have in mind?

edit: I just call him about it....
small crack in fairing
hasn't changed the following: battery, tires, brakes and fluid, or chain
says everything works properly
no work done on it other than oil changes since he bought it

Yeah, that's too high of a price for all the work that needs to go into it.
I'm sure it runs fine--my 1996 with 10,300 miles does and its had no work other than oil changes. But still, he needs to take some off the price so that the buyer can get some maintenance done and not pay more than $2000 in my opinion.

Well I still have it for another week, but a guy I work with is gonna buy it from me this next Friday for $1400.
I really wanted him to have it b/c he really wants to get into riding (already took MSF course), and the money isn't a huge issue to me, so I gave him a price he could afford.

I should add that the only reason I sold it was because I'm leaving for boot camp in 9 days and I don't want to deal with storing it or moving around.
Buuuuuuuuut, my technical school is in Monterey!!! Sweet place to own a bike I hear, and I'll be there for over a year whilst the government crams my head full of a foreign language (I don't know which one yet). So I'll definatley be buying a new bike down there.

The EX500 is an extremely common bike and the price is way too much. :thumb:

Cool man...  That's how I got mine too.  Bought it off a co-worker that didn't care too much about the cash. :icon_mrgreen:

I thought they called it "Sleep Away Camp" in the air force.  :icon_razz:

Good luck in the future and all that...  Make sure you check in from time to time.  :thumb:
