ok, today i leaned my GS500 over for the first time. it was at low speed and due to wet roads and a sharp corner. luckily i went off the road and into some very thick tall grass, but i noticed that there are some rubber hosey/tubey looking things poking out and am not sure if that's normal or a result of the 15mph crash. it's right in front of the rear brake lever.

any ideas as to what these may be and if that's where they're supposed to be?

Pretty sure those are just your Gas tank drain tube and an overflow tube.   You should be Ok. (unless gas is coming out of them)  

nothing's coming out of them and that was actually my first guess, which is why i actually checked for anything with my finger. if i didn't have the memory of a retarded trout i might actually remember if they were like that before i went down

oh, and the bike runs fine. it got a little flooded and took a minute to get it started.

Your probably going to start noticing "things that weren't there before" just because your brain will be in overdrive trying to make sure nothing else is wrong.  but you probably just dinnged up the paint, and your ego but if there was something wrong you would have found it by now.   just relax, Learn from your mistake, and keep the sticky side down.  

oh pfffff, my ego has been damaged for... the whole 16 years of my life. but, just took it out again and smelled gas because, well, i decided to gas it up . oh, and my brain doesn't have overdrive, jsut neutral and reverse

When I went over on my bike, i looked for days thinking something was wrong. I bet everything is ok on your bike just keep an eye out. Glad your ok!

Those hoses are held there by a bendable wire holder attached by one of the case bolts.  This is the way it came from the factory.

By the way, the more you lean your bike, the more power it takes to keep it up.  Judge the turn and match your power and your lean to accomondate the turn.

Go to a nice unobstructed parking lot, and ride a round in circles.  Left and right.  Big, then tighter and tighter, change your rate of speed (to a reasonalbe rate). Find and feel the balance point.  Sounds dumb, but it helps.

no damage to the bike and only a damaged ego to myself, not even any grass stains!

Oh, I didn't catch the "Rain" part.  Must ride very, very different in the rain.
