I was reading your various opinions on the many brands of Tank Bags available.  As I was searching the web, I came across one that I didn't see mentioned.  Not sure if it is their own brand or just brand X, but the web site is www.motorbags.com.  Please let me know your opinions.  They are located about 1/2 hour from my house and offered to meet me in the evening so I wouldn't have to pay shipping.  They don't have a store front, so I have to decide from what I see on their site.  Thanks.

Hey, Wayne:
A good tank bag is extremely useful...I use mine almost every ride.  Mine is the Nelson-Rigg MG-950, magnetic bag.  Cost about 50 bucks, UPS to my door.  IMHO, the ideal tank bag is sized proportional to the bike, has all magnetic areas covered with a soft cloth or fiber (won't scratch the tank), has a removeable top map-pocket, large, easy-access compartment(s).  The MG-950 came with a rain cover and a shoulder strap, and both are useful.  Judge what you see against this standard and price.  If you are not happy with their stock, I ordered mine thru www.ironpony.com.  Ride safe bro.

Do magnetic tank bags harm cell phones?  I assume that they are no good for credit cards, but I haven't tried yet.  I have a magnetic bag and can't beat the convenience.

Couldn't agree more about the convenience.  I rode Saturday with 3 friends...they all had small backpacks, I had my tank bag.  By the end of the day, they were asking where I bought it.

I have put my cell in the bag (there are a few fittings inside the lid, one looks like it was MADE for a cell phone) with no problems so far.  I'm not sure about credit cards, don't know how sensitive that magnetic strip on the back is...but just to be safe, you can always stash the wallet or a few cards, ID, cash etc in a zipped jacket pocket.  I like the idea of an ID physicially on my body, anyway, not in a bag on the bike.

I've put my wallet, with my credit card, in my magnetic tank bag for just about every ride I've ever taken.  No problems yet.
