You guys weren't kidding...

Just took my gs out for its first real ride.

I've been riding now for several months on an old '82 Honda FT500 Ascot.  It's an ok bike.  But the tires are old and hard.  It really limits what little performance the big single puts out.

But today is the day of my State Patrol inspection.  For those of you who don't know, or may have forgotten, I have an '02 gs that was totaled down in California and that I and my dad fixed up.  (His money, my work.  Sounds good to me.  :thumb:  although it is still his bike, that he lets me use.  Anyway...)  The bike has been ready to go for about a month and a half now, but it takes a while to get an appointment with the state patrol to have a totaled vehicle inspected.  Today is the day, and I have a two day permit which means I can ride the bike even without a plate.  So I took it out on a little 25 mile ride through my local twisties just to make sure everything checked out before I take the bike on the freeway.

You guys weren't kidding!!

Quick, light, fun, grin inducing, and confidence inspiring are all terms that come to mind.  This is the most fun I've ever had on board any machine.  (And that includes some world class roller coasters, and full blown military flight simulators.)

I'm so glad we picked the gs500.  It's a great bike for any rider of any level.
