Last night Destro, another GStwinner, and I hit "the Alphabet Roads" just outside of Kansas City.  EE to H to JJ.  Awsome.  Good curvey roads, great views.  Nice.  In the 13 mile loop there are probably 7 twenty five mile an hour curves, 15 thirty fives, 2 fiftys, and a 10 forty fives.  The speed limit is 55.
We did the loop in 13 minutes, meaning we averaged 60 mph.  It was pretty brisk, to say the least.  We did that a couple of times, but the wild life (a red fox, for example) was really starting to take interest in the tarmac because it was getting dark.  I only scared myself one time.  I was heading into a 25 mile an hour, 90 degree,  right hand turn at about 70.  I was coming in way hot and ended up breaking all the way to the apex, then I down shifted too much and when I let the clutch out the back end slid a little.  No big deal, but it got my attention.
After a couple laps, taking turns in the lead, we switched bikes so we could head to the Casino for some gambling and some beers.
I took Destro's YZF-600 and he took the SV 650S from me.

Holly crap!  That thing revs super fast.  I mean lightening fast.  It was my frist time on an I4 bike.  At 6000 rpm I felt like I should be shifting, but there were no more gears.  Shift down and roll on the throttle, getting it up towards 10,000 rpm was an adventure.  The landscape sort of started moving really fast by me.  The speedo is impossible so see, but the thing is fast and loud.  Really fast and loud.  And so comfortable.  It is like riding on a sofa.  Not too much weight on the hands.  Sort of upright.  Very soft seat. This is a great touring machine.  And did I mention fast.
I can't imagine what an R6 or 636 would be like.  Wild.

Then we hit the casino.  I had to rally at the table to get back even (after going down $60).  Went up ten and got of the blackjack table.  I was happy about this until I saw the $5-$500 Texas Shootout table.
This is not the game for me.  Lost $40 on the Texas Shootout.

But in all, it was an awsome night.

Truly a great night, had no luck on the tables at all, but had a great time.  It was really funny to see Jake's eyes the first time he touched the throttle !  His eyes got HUGE!!  I wasn't used to the fuel injection on the SV so it took me a while to get started, but otherwise it was what I expected from a twin.  Didn't have much time to play around with the powerband as we got caught in traffic.  I would say that the SV is a step up from the GS and a lot of fun for the money, definitely not as cushy as the YZF, but still a fun bike.  The YZF is loud because it had the baffles removed by the previous owner.  My wife tells me it still is not as loud as the GS with a Wileyco exhaust.

Oh and Jake is quick, I let him lead on our second loop and I could barely keep up.  I saw him checking his mirrors to see if I was still there!

Don't you remember?  I was watching "Faster" before I rode up to meet you.  And I was reading "Total Control" by Lee Parks while using positive visualization techniques.

I'm sure you didn't have any trouble keeping up.  The we did turn up the wick a little bit on that second lap!!!   :thumb:

The High Light of the gambling night for me: the sexy female pit boss was chatting us up and to show her I was a high roller I doubled down a $10 bet with a 13 against the dealers 5, got the seven and went up $40!  She was so impressed she had to walk away to hide the fact that she had totally fallen for me.

I'm serious!  She wants to have my babies.

She was laughing when she walked away and I said, "That was hot, wasn't it?"  She agreed.  She said it was so hot she had to leave.
