My assumptions on others:

TL1000S - Twin Liter 1000cc Street (sport?)
TL1000R - Twin Liter 1000cc Race
SV650 - Sport V (Twin) 650cc
SV650S - Sport V (Twin) Sport/street?
GSX600F (Katana)- Overhead cams with 4-valves per 600cc faired
GSF600 (Bandit) - Overhead cam four cylinder 600cc
GSF600S (Bandit S) - Overhead cam four cylinder 600cc Sport/Street
GS500F - Overhead cam 500cc faired
DRZ-400SM - Dirt/Road 4-stroke (Z) 400cc SuperMoto

F before displacement numbers = four cylinder
F after displacement numbers = faired

Oh yea ... that would make the bandit how many valves ??? 4 ... then where is the X ...
Yea that's right ... random sheite thrown together to make it look cool ... letters like R and X add like 20 hp, and the F adds like 50. Blue bikes are the fastest ... and purple is the crappiest ...    O0  :thumb:  :thumb:

RR means 'Race Ready' doesn't it.
I guess that means it meets most track requirements off the shelf.

Or I could be wrong. It's happened before.  :icon_rolleyes:

but what the hell does the first R mean.

also what in god's green f$#king earth does CB stand for

sledge

the letters may mean something to the designers in the form of a code  but the bikes are sold all over the world, in different countries with different languages so they cant equate to words because they will differ from country to country, unless they assume English to be universal. In saying that the Japanese do have some funny ways of naming cars. There is garage near me selling imported cars called Nissan Cedrics,  Mazda Friendly-Bongos and Toyota Toyopets. I have also read that Isuzu sell a pick-up called the `Light-Dump`. Check out the link

Aren't Chevies known as something else in Austrailia?  I know Fords are still called Fords over there.

No, no.  CB stands for "crotch bike" which gave birth to term "Crotch Rocket".  The CBR is a "Crotch Bike Royal", which doesn't translate well, but basically means Super Crotch Bike Race Regular.

The most interesting is Yamaha, which let YZF stand for "You'll Zoom Fast" but is known in Japan is the Yamaha Fuzzy Bunny, Fizzer for short.

Yes!  That's it!  Thanks.  Bookmarked for later useage (or, rather, a self-reminder).

Only because they use the R1 motor.  The YZF-R1.  You get it now?  Ahhhhh. . . .

My logic is flawless.

FZR = Fast Zoom Race, I kid you not.  YZF = Yamaha('s best) Zip Fast (or, Zoom Fast).
