Lot of smoke when dropping throttle

Hello to all, I bought my gs500 few months ago and I still have one annoying problem I cannot solve by myself.
few weeks ago, I noticed a lot of black smoke comming from exaust when accelerating and also when droping gas quickly, especially when engine is still cold. After changing air filter and sparks, smoke noticebly reduced, but for now it's the white smoke (not blue) still comming when reducing speed from high rpm's, and braking with engine. Also I noticed oil reducing slowly. For about 400km it consumes oil from "high" mark to "low"

domas

When buying motorcycle always check if it doesnt smoke.

So your bike lets oil into cylinders. I suspect your bike is pretty old or very abused. You will need to repair the engine if you want it to stop. First you could check compression of the cylinders, they must be 10-14 bar if i remember correctly. If it is too low, you will have to replace piston rings to restore compression.

If compression is ok, you can be leaking oil from valves, but i dont know how often this happens to GS.

I checked bike before buying as I could, it wasn't smoking at all. Looks like problems began after oil change.
bought semi synthetic 15w-50.

No chance of you over filling the oil?

Of course the oil level indication may vary a little bit as bikes main stand can be on different elevation,
but real over filling - not.

Then first check valve clearances to be correct and then what domas said, cylinder compression check

went to bike service today, master said I should replace oil rings.
rings cost about 100$
and price for replacing about 350$
a little bit pity to leave 1/3 motorcycle price only for ring replacement.
maybe there is any chemicals for restoring rings without disassembling engine ?

Worn piston rings are worn piston rings (and the bike smoking when decelerating is a pretty sure indication that you do have worn piston rings). No magical potion will restore that.

you could try putting in a bottle of that engine restore crap... it would only be a band-aid fix and i don't know if it would actually do anything.

Partsnmore.com sells a complete engine rebuild kit for about $30USD.  I dont know if the will ship to Lithuania, though.
I suggest you do a topend rebuild. It's not too easy, but I bet anyone with patience can read the instructions and get her done right.

Buy the Clymers book and give it a shot. At least buy the book and read the instructions on how to do it, so you can determine wether or not you would rather pay someone an arm and a leg for such a simple job.

PLUS, you have all of us here to help guide you through it.

Thank You all for your help and patience. Almost decided to jo this job by myself. It's not a problem about shipping cos'  there is friend in USA, he could ship parts for me.
found "SUZUKI GS500 E (89-96) COMPLETE GASKET SET" in partsnmore.com for 63$

Mandres

Bikebandit.com sells ring sets for $24 - so ~$50 for both cylinders.  You'll also need new head and base gaskets, new head o-rings, exhaust gaskets, and various chemicals: acetone, gasket remover, molybdenum grease, etc.  You'll need a cylinder hone to prep the cylinders for the new rings and a floor jack is helpful for removing the exhaust.

It's not a difficult job; just time consuming and maybe frustrating.  The hardest part for me was getting the pistons back into the cylinder; an extra pair of hands really helps here.  Take the time to clean off all the carbon build up from the pistons and head; gasket remover helps to loosen the stuff.

Ride the mofo till it starts fouling plugs ... then clean the plugs every ride and ride ...
Mine was using more than a quart in 300 miles ... though it never smoked ... Ride till it dies, then rebuild the whole top, not just rings ... valves, guides, etc ... prolly cost 2-3 times the cost of the bike ... But I have bought bike for a 100 bucks and it had a $500 repair ...
Cool.
