The jig is up!

The exhaust alpha had sent my way got in earlier...skippy.  I started work on building a jig to fit a bolt-in replacement so that will be available soon.  I also went ahead and setup for a slip-on replacement but it'll require permanent modification to the stock exhuast (duh)...slip ons are available now, though (see f/s section of Mak's Kitchen for details).

I think I'm going to narrow it down to three options for the GS:

Slip-on replacement.  This will require that the can be cut off at the weld + 1/2".  There will be a slip on flange that slips over the stock tubing, but it'll be a tad loose to allow for good alignemt, then secure with a single band clamp.  Can will then secure to the factory location, but it may be a bit closer to the swingarm and tire...I don't think it'll be an issue, though.  If anyone can tell me how much clearance there is between the factory can and the swinger/tire I can clear it up now.

Full system replacement.  This will be a full 2-1 system that bolts in place of stock.  The system will be made of 45mm runners and a 60mm collector to continue to the can.  Can will bolt up like stock.

Full high mount.  Same as above, but with the can hugging the tail.  I can't divulge too much about this one, yet, as I can't start fitment until I get a reliable test-bike in hand.

All exhausts will come with the carbon fiber cans.

The slip on will be $154 shipped anywhere in the US.

The bolt in replacement is $278 shipped anywhere in the US.

Specific pricing and details for the highmount will be released in time...target price is still $325.

The dual high mount I think is going to be abandoned as I feel plumbing it in might be a bigger hassle than I'm prepared to deal with.  I'll update on that.

I may still build a few but I think the plumbing is going to be a nightmare.  I certainly won;t be able to swing a true dual setup...both pipes are going to have to come up behing the rider peg and split under the tail.  Either that or a single pipe up behind the peg and under the tail and split then.  Not something I'm looking foward to trying to produce on a "demand" scale.

Yeah, totally understandable. That does sound lke a bit of trouble. Plus it might interfere with a wider tire (which will be going on later).

Hmm, so what do you have planned for me? :)

Not sure yet...If you're still interested in the high mount you're going to have to wait until I get a test bike in hand...the local dude isn't interested in helping me out.  Total poofer anyway.

I just sold my ninja, though, and my truck shouldnt last too long...so I'll have a GS in hand before too long...even if it's just some random old beater.

Yeah, I'm still interested. It's best for me to wait to, what with the complete lack of funding right now. Gonna get funds in a few weeks from paycheck, so whatever works.

V&H is not carbon fiber.
V&H is not highmount.
V&H does not fit the F-models.
and um.... the V&H logo looks tackey!

most importantly, the V&H system isnt made with love for the GS community  :kiss3:

Why buy Jardine when you can buy Vance?  I'd like to know where you can get a Vance for $278.

Did you mean "I'd like to know where you can get a JARDINE for $278?"

If not, www.discountcycleparts.com sells V&H for $278.  But I think you meant the above.

That pipe is made for a car not a bike... $50. eBay carbon pipe for a CRX on my GS.. no thanks

Ill stick w/ my "ugly" VH full system.. (made for the GS)  :thumb:

Ok.. not quite $278 but for $31.00 more

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/partslist.aspx?Bike=3317&Department=762&Manufacturer=275

or even better the above mentioned it on another site for less..

No I didn't...I said Vance...as in "Vance and Hines".  Vance is the only company that can come close to my prices, and no, discountmotorcycle.com does not sell full Vance systems for $278, and motorcycle superstore is a lot more that "$31" more.

Scott...a muffler is a muffer.  If you don't like it then we don;t have a problem...you don;t have to buy it.

BTW...the GS exhaust from vance and hines was designed by folks to be aplicable...not perform.  That's why it yields next to no gain and fits 7 different bikes.  It's all noise, boy.

Maybe that's why no one even bothers putting a pic of the system up...
