Ok well as long as I can still get it done with the bike in the driveway.. don't fancy riding on the highway the first time out.. eek.

Btw, in terms of servicing and such, do I go to a Suzi dealer?  Even the car ones or are there MC specific ones?

Basically my game plan is to get the bike Saturday, register it same day (or on Weds, darn holidays), ride around a parking lot for a week or so (ATGATT), then get it to a Suzi dealer to go through and check EVERYTHING before I start seriously taking to the roads.

Man this side profile looks great.  DAMMIT  I should have gotten the black '05   DAMMIT

Looks good to me...if he 'really' laid it down it would be more rashed on the fairing and it would have rash on the side of the tail, and the mirror...
FK5 / SM2 / 15t / 41t / sv650 shock ... -->GSX-R600k7
Steez...

That fairing has signs of a motion drop. Be sure to unscrew the screws holding it and make sure you put it back to where it's supposed to be. It's bent in a little bit.

$2900?!?!?!?! THAT IS A STEAL!!

Looks like he could have dropped it on a hill... they have those in NY apperently....it looks like it might have skidded down the hill a little.

If you haven't taken a safety course (eg. MSF), I highly recommend it. I really learned good things there, and it was a perfect foundation to build on. Absolutely great thinking to start out in the parking lot and build. Get to know your new bike. When you hit the roads, hit the vewwy, vewwy quiet ones first. Even a few cars will seem like a lot in the beginning...just build your confidence and skills slowly (there's no rush!).

As for having someone go over your bike, I've always had my private moto mechanic do the tough stuff on my bike (but just cuz I'm lazy, and I don't want my bf to feel obligated to do all the work...my bf does my oil changes, and he does my chain cleaning/lubing when I'm being a lazy boot...isn't he da bomb??? ;) The GS is such an easy bike to work on.....great bike to learn to wrench on! I've learned...I can do it myself....I'm just lazy :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen:). He charges 1/2 what the stealership charges, and I trust his work far more than I'd trust the stealership's. If you know the folks at your dealership, and they have a good reputation, then you'll be a very lucky GS'r. BUT..it doesn't hurt to price things out (and a once-over of a new bike by a mechanic is a good idea in my book...I do it!). You'll save a good bit if you do your own oil changes...if you don't have your manual yet, we have many good how-to's and member how-to pages:

Yes, I have taken MSF.  Almost got a perfect score too.. -1 on the riding for not accelerating enough in a turn  .

I figured since I've only ever gone 25 mph max on a bike I would have to build up some confidence before going 40-60.  Unfortunately we live on a fairly busy road but there are a lot of quiet backroads just up the ways a bit.  Filled with nice, twisty turns  :icon_mrgreen: .

And the best part.. it's still under warranty.

Queso

That looks like the exact same bike that keeps popping up on ebay and selling really cheap...

LMT

Why exactly is he selling it?  And why such a good price?  Also, what's the mileage?  I have the exact same one and just turned 1K.  Paid just under 5K for it in OH last Oct. new.  So the price sounds almost too good to be true.
Have 2 bikes and 1 scooter (125cc).  Other bike is Kawasaki Ninja 250, as well as the Suzuki GS500.  Recently sold the Ninja.  Added the checkerboard decals to the GS.  They are reflective 3M decals.

OK OK...everyone stop doubting this guy. I was the one who pointed Altephor towards the bike. The guy lives near me and I've seen the bike. The blue book price on that bike is between 2620 and 3830 for a trade in. The bike has scratches, local dealers aren't going to go anywhere near anything scratched because they lose money making them pretty....hell GS'es don't even sell here no one keeps them in stock.  Its not a scam, he wants a bigger bike. He needs money for it, he's selling this one cheap. If anything were to ever happen, and it won't, I'll be the one to take the flaming...leave the poor guy alone and let him buy the damn bike!!!

Buy the bike you will love it, the damage is  easy to sort out . It is even the proper color [ after purple of course ]  Time to start buring up a rubber road to freedom baby! Sitting still the bike looks like it is going 200 KPH ! [ ok 190 kph ]   cheers !
