Hmm to apply for collision... or not?

So I have to apply for my own insurance because the company that does my car insurance (and my family's) doesn't have motorcycle coverage.  SO I'm going to end up paying about 100 a month, which I could bring down DRASTICALLY without collision, or with a high deductible.  Being that I'm paying 2900 for the bike.. is it really worth it?  Basically I'm paying 1200 with a 500 deductible, so 1700 dollars to insure a 2900 motorcycle.

That is insane.  I pay $89 per year for liability through Geiko's Motorcycle Insurance and I am not listed as an "experienced rider".  Uninsured motorist and underinsured motorist coverage would only run an extra $40 for my bike.  Granted, mine is a '95 and isn't worth that much, but still.... thats that too shabby.  You are being exploited!

Its Conneticut.  Last night Pastrana and I priced full coverage on a Triumph 675 just about $5000 for a 9K-9.5k bike and this for a 25yr old+ female.

I'm 20, no accidents, good student (3.27 GPA).

Liability would be cheap (like.. 70 a year I think it was?) but it's collision that kills it, which is why I'm debating if I need it.  What if I hit someone else, though?

i pay 311 a year for full coverage, 500 deduc progresive.
i also payed 450$ for min with gieco, as soon as that is over it will be just progressive.

In NY insuring 6 bikes (2 675's, 2 GS's, a CB350, and an S90)  only came out to about $4750.

It you hit someone your liability covers it.  THis is the part of the insurance they make you have.

Good god!!!

You know you would think that after you pay the cost of the bike, your monthly note should drop

So would you guys recommend full coverage if it's that much?  I mean, if I were to lay it down or hit something, I dunno if I would even DO 1800 worth of damage.

ajgs500

Hahahaha yeah you would do 1800 easy.  I did over 1000 and there really wasnt that much damage.

What is the annual cost of liability only?

Give a man a fish, and you have fed him for a day.  Teach a man to fish, and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Here is what I figure, I paid $2000 dollars for my bike, they want $250 a month for full coverage with a $500 dollar deductible, for six months that 1500 dollars, which is the same as if I had crashed my bike and they totalled it.

So I figure as long as I dont crash my bike in a year(which I have made it 2.5years) I have saved myself a bunch of money.

And If you crash hard enough to total the bike, odds are the hospitle bill would be more than the bikes worth....my word of the wise.....get lots of medical with a low deductible....j/k(maybe)
