Experience enables you to recognise a mistake when you make it again

Reliability & liked the look of it.
Main reason is insurance. In the last 2 years insurance in Ireland has gone sky high and the GS500 is in the lower insurance group.
Also find it a very comfortable bike and they can be bought second hand at a good price.

I got mine last century, 1999 to be exact. My brother in law had just got himself a brand new cbr 1000. It had been nearly 4 years since my accident & I got the bug to get another bike.

At a drooling session at the local ducati dealership, parked out the in the used bikes was my little GS. The bike size was ideal for me, it was only a 500 so it was no crotch rocket & the bike look ok. After finding out the price discussions began with the minister of war & finance (wife). Once I got the go ahead to buy the bike, I went back to the dealership to look at buying the bike. When enquiring about bike I found out that they knocked $1000 off the price.  :thumb:

So I bought the bike as something to get back into motorcycling, with the intention of upgrading fairly soon. I looked at upgrading in two years time, but then my eldest boy was on the way, so we needed a bigger car.

Any how I've still got the GS allbeit modded, and am still happy with it.
The more I learn about women, the more I love my bike.
