I just got a new set of Avon Azaro ST 45/46's on my 01'.  The front is a standard size 110/70 and the rear is 140/80.  This is the first time that I have gone with a different size on back.  I haven't had enough time to fully break the tires in, but I love them already.  I can go into corners faster and at a great lean angle.  Also being 6'3'', the added height is a bonus.  But one thing has caught my attention.  I have noticed that Im running 500 - 700 rpms lower at the same speeds.  I havent yet tested my 0 - 60 or top speed.  Have you guys run into this and what changes in performance have you experienced?

It's because of the larger diameter of your new rear tire.  (But of course, you already knew that.)  When my stock 130/70 rear tire wore out I replaced it with a 130/90, and my RPMs were a full 1,000 less than usual at the same speeds.  ... freaked me out until I "did the math".

Anyway, you might consider switching to a 15-tooth sprocket in the front.  It will help to offset the RPM differential.  Especially because you're now even less likely than before to hit max RPMs in 6th gear.

wouldnt the fromt tire effect the speed difference too since that is where the spedo is?
going fast isnt the problem, its the crashing and burning that hurts

Front tire is still stock 110/70 size, rear tire is taller. Front tire affects speedo, rear tire affects revs.
