My husband (Morbidelli17) and I bought our new 2005 last weekend.  It's black/silver/red.

We performed the rear fenderectomy before we even unloaded it from the truck!  We have a Katana 600 rear shock and Michelin H2 race tires in hand and clubman handlebars en route.  (My husband says, "And goddamn it, those handlebars will fit!")

It's nice to be here.  We're looking forward to getting to know folks.

Thanks. Good to find this site. Needed a commuter bike, otdcycles offered a deal I couldn't believe - base price, $4,350.  :o

Already checked out the site. Thanks for the tips on tires, shock, etc.  :icon_mrgreen: I mean, I knew there had to be an OEM shock that would fit, but a Katana? Who knew? Actually, what you're really getting with the shock swap is a better spring rate; the damping's probably somewhat better, and probably more consistent, but nothing to write home about. But I've read of guys getting decent/good results by putting good springs on crap rear shocks.

The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

Welcome! And in case you didn't already know:

You should come!

Thanks for the invite, but hubby's racing at Willow Springs that weekend.  It should be a good ride for those of you going, though.  (I wonder if Officer Stout will still be out of commission by then...)

He's still recovering from having crashed a week or two ago. For those that don't know-Officer Stout is the moto cop dedicated to ticketing anyone at Anegeles Crest. He was chasing after a rider who was running (apparently), went wide in a turn crossing the DY and hit a jeep head on. Destroyed his BMW cruiser and broke several bones. This is not his first crash up there and there was speculation he was going to be decommissioned from that assignment.

If he is, there will surely be someone else to replace him. Last weekend was swarming with car patrols from what I heard. Hopefully, if he's replaced with someone less zealous about his responsibility to society.
