The GS Posse is looking to do a one-time DRAG race, that's right DRAG race a GS450 at the Indianapolis round of the AMA/Prostar drag race series. :o

We will be competing in Street ET on a bone stock GS450. Street ET is just like bracket racing. You have a "dial-in" time that you try to match instead of a heads-up drag race against another opponent. (more details here: http://www.amaprostar.com/noframe_clubraces.asp)

We're doing this in conjunction with my primary sponsor, www.localriders.com. Our goal is to gain exposure for our online community for all motorcyclists and to gain exposure for gstwin.com

This wasn't in the race budget for the year and this is where I need your help. John was kind enough to allow me to post this request. We are looking for some donations/sponsorship from our fellow board members. We need a total of $120 to cover entry fees, gate fees, and gas (we'll buy our own beer ;) ).

The easiest way to do this is paypal. You can donate to novice223@yahoo.com.

The bike will carry localriders.com stickers as well as GS Twin.com stickers. GS Twin will be listed as a sponsor and we may make it into the Street & Strip magazine!

Any donations exceeding $120 will be donated to gstwin.com for site maintenace.

If you have any questions or would like more info, please post, PM, or email.

More info on the AMA/Prostar Club Days here:

Thanks in advance!

John,

Got your donation. Thanks!

Pablo, I sent you a PM. Don't know if it went through or not.

The support has already started, thanks everybody.

john

GStwin.com has just made a $20 donation for the effort.  You should already have it Greg.  Also I am sending some decals your way too.

I hope you get some support from the GStwin.com crew   :thumb:

No, I don't think we'll be posting the address on a public board.  Any interested donors can PM us for the info.

Yea, I agree.  PM for the mailing address.  I am sure he will PM you or post here to thank for the donation.

I don't like to have my address available to everyone either but as the web site owner it is public domain.  So far nobody had tried to kill me yet  ;)

So what I am saying is Pam is right.  PM for the mailing address for Greg's house of pain & pleasure

Yeah, and don't forget those magazine spec's are probably using a proficient rider that has been to the dragstrip before.
Greg's hoping to break into the 14 second bracket before the August 9/10 weekend.

I hope he does!  I hope he gets enough donations to make it happen.

I suspect gearing will be a big part, also playing with jetting and maybe even some pod filters?  Keep testing!  Maybe next year he'll run a gs500 :thumb: even though the gs450 is kindred, hell its really the same motor.

John,

The bike already has K&N pods and the muffler cut off. Open pipe, baby! The jetting is pretty close, maybe a bit lean on top, but that's OK. Gearing is still roadrace gearing but I'm going to leave it be for now. The goal is to be consistent, even if I'm consistently in the low 15's.

Thanks for everyone's help. It's been fun so far. I'm going to try one more test & tune before I'm off to the races.

Even if I only make one competition pass, it'll be pretty damn cool.

Watch your clutch with that roadrace gearing.

Pretty cool!!!!!!!!!

I hear ya. I've already put a season's worth of "starts" in one test and tune night.

V8Pinto

Yeah, test and tune is pretty "busy"...  Before marriage and kids consumed all my time I raced my pinto pretty regular.  I used to race with a 4 cylinder pinto and the track announcer joked that if the guy had a faster car, he would have gotten the record for most runs in a session.  I think he made something like 37 passes.

The funniest advice I ever got was an ol' timer telling me how to cut a good light.  I was convinced that "my car" couldn't cut better than a .580 light.  He said "do ya have to pee son?" and I said yeah and he said "good, well hold it.  When you line up against that guy concentrate so hard you wet your pants.  You'll cut a good light."

It works

Total of $62 has been donated.

I'll be leaving on Friday evening. Dial-in runs are Sat and eliminations are Sunday.

Greg Gabis

Test 'n' tune was rained out this week, so no new data.

two more contributors:

ginovega
Arpee (I think)

Total contributions...$92!

Thanks guys. I'll post a story on Monday!

Greg Gabis

Back from the races.

I was eliminated in the first round. I'll have more details soon.

I did OK and represented GSTwin.com well. I even had a cheering section! Got a lot of comments on the bike, too.

I'll have pics and video up in about a week and a more detailed post in a few days.

Thanks again for everyone's help. I couldn't have done it without you guys!

Anybody into dragbikes will get a kick out of this...my dial-in was a 15.65!
