Nope, and don't know of anyone who cares enough to test themselves with personal versions of these devices.

Personally I self-moderate -- I don't drink at all when I ride.  Have had a beer after a game of hockey, then driven home, but never drink when I ride.  (There's a lot more to riding a motorcycle than driving a car.)

Drinking is one of the top causes for motorcycle accidents.  I shake my head when I see a mess of cruisers out in the parking lot of a bar.  I've rarely ever seen any Law Enforcement Officers stake out the local watering holes -- seems like a natural thing to do.  Then the general public can use a version of these Alcohol Detector devices free of charge, or maybe not so free if above 0.08 here in Michigan.   :)

Another brilliant post, Redshift...  :thumb: You're on a major roll!

Seriously, my bf I have exactly the same philosophy. We absolutely never drink and ride. It's just too high of a risk factor for moto accidents...  :dunno_white:

Oh....and we've never tried the digital alcohol detector, either. ;)

I don't drink before riding either, never would I do that. But it could be nice to know before driving. Sometimes you feel fine, but maybe you aren't as fine as you think you are. I just want to know when I'm at 0.00.

The previous posts are spot on, it's simple, don't do it and you won't need a meter. I enjoy a drink as much as anyone and I love to ride so it's a simple choice, one or the other never a little of both.

In Cricket the testicular guard, or Box, was introduced in 1874. The helmet was introduced in 1974. Is there a message??

The issue of being under the infulence is becoming more widespread here in the UK and not just with driving/riding and transport in general. At some of the large industrial plants I regularly work at you can be subject to a breath test at the gate, if you fail the test you are not allowed in PERIOD!. I like a few beers as much as the next man but there is a time and place and you have to consider the limitations it places on you with regard to your own safety and that of others.

you guys are killin me, when did he say he wanted one so he could drink an ride his bike?  He ask a simple question, an is now getting preached at.  i do agree with everything being said, cuz bikes an booze don't mix.  imo every bar should have 1 of these at the door, as a favor to their patrons.

I only ride sober.  If I end up riding to a bar, which is rare, I drink at most 1 beer per hour, and wait until the end of that hour before riding.  I'm only a little more flexible with driving.

However, I can see where one of these would be useful considering the varying alcohol content of different drinks, even beer.

Bars should offer patrons a puff into one of these types of devices as they leave.  It may well be an eye-opener to many and help convince some to decide not to drive.  But that would be wishful thinking on my part.   :cookoo:

A local bar had one for a while, but the patrons took it as a challenge.

I (accidentally) had roughly 16 shots of Vodka one night, with a beer and some trashcan punch within 2 hours or so. I think one of these would have been good so I could have known how drunk I REALLY was.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof, is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools....

Thanks to advances in automation, Nike shoes will be made by robots. Unfortunately, the robots will be made by children in Malaysia.

Extremely. But numerically how much would be interesting to see.

They were doubles and I thought they were singles. We had an ice block and a hot nurse (Haloween costume party) dispensing shots. It was cherry vodka, so it was pretty sweet too. Also, after a while I got the most amazing logic ever: "I can't taste the alcohol, I'd better take another shot." I think that happened twice, but maybe more?

I could have had more than 16. That's just a guess based on my crappy memory of that night.
