So I'm six days into ownership of the bike, got Michelin H2 Pilot Races on the thing and a Kat 600 shock. I have GOT to stay out of the garage ...

ZenSandy  :kiss3: and I went up to the Valley on Saturday because it just wasn't hot enough for us in Long Beach.  :icon_rolleyes: The ride seems a bit choppier on the thrashed parts of the freeways, and ZS said the ride felt harsher, but it wasn't significantly different. No worse than the SV with moderate suspension upgrades.

I and friends hit Ortega this morning. I like the sharp turn-in the raised rear provides; and once leaned over, the bike felt very stable over the worst of bumps at speed. It seems to wobble a bit on high-speed corner entries as I get my body into position, but getting on the gas early in the corner ( I mean RIGHT after you flick it) settles things down very nicely, and it drives out very well. (Can't wait for my clubman bars. The thing felt like a dirt bike.)

IMO, well worth the $50 I paid for the shock.

I got the clubman bars for my bike just recently....and after having the super bike bars before, the clubman bars sit waaaaay far more foward of the shock.
Much much more aggressive lookiing.

Im building up this bike, so I wont be riding wilth the clubmans on anytime soon, but its definitly going to be a whole new experience....the position is much more foward I feel....

...Im not into chrome though...Ive already sanded them some to dull it down some. I might paint them black before I put the bike back together.

Anyway, they look pretty mmmmeannnn though.
Is that a turd on your upper lip?

Yeah, if I could find them in black, I would have bought those. Sanding them's an interesting idea. Pantablo, do you have the braking/entry wobble?

M

pantablo

yes, but only on my 600rr (pre suspension adjustment)...

I dont have my gs500 any more. havent had it for over 2 yrs. I dont remember any braking wobble but I never took it to the track nor did I ride on the street needing to brake heavily. I usually rode the PACE method where I kept a good steady clip and didnt need to brake heavily because I didnt hit massive speeds on straights. Do you have the front suspension worked on yet? I did my progressives and rear shock at the same time. You should really do both or front first.

what kind of wobble you getting? I'd guess its due to front stock springs.

Haven't touched the front yet. I'm gonna change fork oil and add a bit of preload when I change the handlebars. It's not really a braking wobble; it seems to happen as I shift my body setting up for the corners. It may just be that I'm a bit harsh with my body transitions on a bike that's so light, and that the high bars transmit more motion to the front end than I intend to.

Or, as always, I could be completely full of  :bs: I never count out that possibility.

pantablo

LOL. if your body position is a possiblity consider it the cause...LOL...no, could be that or that combined with the front being so utterly crap soft. Look, I weigh 125 and I could WEASILY bottom them out driving up a driveway apron.
