I just got back home this afternoon from being on vacation for the past 8 days up near Canada. I haven't been able to read or post anything until now. I tried accessing the site from my cell phone but it said the threads/files were too large.

Kim, I want to thank you for calling me on Sunday morning and telling me about Rich. I didn't know what to say when I talked with you on the phone... I was so in shock from what you told me. I still can't believe Rich is gone. It truly breaks my heart that we lost someone so special ... I was blessed to have met Rich a few times in person. We got along well from the first time I met him. We always had a great time on rides we've been on. He's such a friendly, kind hearted, funny, genuine, caring person... and he adhored you Kim. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help you.

Rich, I am truly sorry for not being able to attend your services... I would have been there if I was able to. You were and always will be in my thoughts and prayers, and will be dearly missed! I wish I could have made the GS Camping ride... I never imagined we wouldn't be able to go on any more rides together. I was very much looking forward to the next ride. The last time I talked with you was when you and Amanda were trying to convince me to ride up to Sandy Valley. I told you I didn't want to risk riding in the rain, because I didn't want to chance getting into an accident, and I mentioned about 2 weeks ago, a friend I knew from High School was killed in a motorcycle accident... he was only 35, with a wife and 2 kids. I told you I was considering giving up riding... and now this. It tears my heart that we lost you, but I feel blessed and honored to have been able to know you and spend time with you & ride with you. You are an inspiration to us all. Tears are falling down my face... know that you will be missed sorely & always be in our hearts & souls... You have touched the lives of many!

For Chris, Amanda, Kim, Sarah, Aunt Anne, Tazz & the rest of Rich's family, and everyone else on the site... I was thinking as I was riding home through Binghamton today... I/we should have a Memorial Plaque made up in Rich's honor, and once it is finished, we could have a memorial ride to the site of his accident and have it posted there in memory of him. Perhaps his family could meet us all there and maybe we could have a little dedication to him. Since I wasn't able to make the service, this would be (to me) the next best thing to honor his memory.

Do you all think this would be a good idea, and if so, who would be interested in attending the ride/dedication? If there is alot of interest, I will proceed and post details as they come.

RIP Rich... I will miss you dearly!

Another pic of Rich that TazZ posted. :thumb:

The service for Rich was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life...what do you do when your better half isnt there anymore?

I am just so lucky to have the friends and family I have. They made a beautifual reception after the service, that is where I was able to meet those from the gstwins site, who were so friendly!

I just wanted to thank everyone who put money in for the flowers and for everyones support again. I recieved my flowers and was so shocked! I immiadiatly took a few from the arrangement and went to the site of the accident; where I vented some anger!

LadyJules, your idea of a plaque and a memorial ride to the site is a wonderful idea!! I have been searching for something to do for Rich, but I coudlnt think of anything. I will still come up with my own for just him and I, but I do think that is a terrific idea! I dont ride obviously but I would come to the dedication.

Kim, and everyone else, I will contact a local place here that makes Plaques and find out how long it will take to have one made up for Rich. (If there's anything specific that you would like on it, maybe a saying or phrase Rich would want us to use on it, please contact me and let me know.) I will let everyone know when it is finished so we can set up a time and date for the ride to the site for the Memorial Dedication so as many people can be there as possible that want to be there, including all family, if they would like to join us. It would be nice to meet Rich's friends and family & share this with you all as well. Anyone is welcome, even if you don't ride. Rich would be happy and proud knowing so many people care about him.

I'm in too, as long as its not August 5th I've got a farm to run that week.  It's quite a ride for me too, but if anyone from CT/MA wants to go too we'd be travelling the same roads so they could ride with me if they wanted to.

I never knew how much I miss him til today's ride.  I broke up when I tried to say a few words about him.  I think Manjul (The_good_guy) taped it.  It was a good ride.  He woulda liked it.  We'll miss him dearly.

Godspeed Rich.  Although I didn't know you personally, I'll miss you.  You always had kinds words and lent a helping hand when you could.  Even after all of those posts, you didn't lose your patience.. never abrasive with your response to questions.  I hope your family and friends find peace, as you did in your life.

TazZ

it was a good night to read your site again thanks All

I've been reading this site for a few weeks now, and just tonight wandered into this forum.  Seeing how everyone here reacted and pulled together for this, and seeing what an effect that Rich had on everyone here really chokes me up.  It's so sad to hear about anyone being taken from us, but for someone who had the levity that Rich had, especially in this community, it's truly a tragedy.  I haven't read many of his posts, but from reading this thread, and the couple of tribute threads, I feel like I've lost a close friend.  I don't even know what to say.

I am so proud to have found such a wonderful community here, and I think I'll stick around.  O0

I logged in this morning for the first time in 12 days to find this thread, and read every post.  My mood changed from tears at the beginning to smiles when I saw his photos and read posts from his family.

I enjoyed the banter I had with Phae.  I will miss him here.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family.  Kim, it was easy to see how Phae felt about you, he shared his love for you with us.  I hope you find comfort in this hard time.  I can't imagine what you're going thru...  you have my thoughts and prayers.
