..."My god I just ripped the worst fart! I've been eating lots of hard boiled eggs lately and man they smell worse coming out then going in."...

Nothing better than a good fart:-))

Give a man a fish, and you have fed him for a day.  Teach a man to fish, and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Every time they send you something like that, send them back some porno in a reply.  Some anal fisting or something of the sort.  But then again, they might like that sort of thing.

Look you guys...motorcycles are dangerous. Eventually we'll all have accidents and go down. The seriousness of how hard we go down and what hits us when we're down is due to the god factor and the level of skill/handling we have.

I think to get on a bike and say that its as safe as a car is not a safe way of looking at it. At the same time thinking that you can cheat death completely by driving is also not a safe way of living. It really comes down to how much risk your willing to take and how much motorcycles mean to you.

I went through the same thing... Everytime something happened to a motorcyclist, I was the first to know.  Mostly from my parents, I realize that they were just trying to make me aware of the dangers on a bike, but really it got old and I honestly didn't want to hear it. But I just grinned and beared it so as not to be disrespectful. My grandma used to ride for a few years when she was younger and she had a really bad accident that scared her away from riding. She got knocked unconcious and all of that but she wasn't wearing a helmet either. She said, "There was no helmet laws back then." To which I replied, "There is no helmet laws in our state, either, but I wear mine every time I go out riding."

I just started riding and I get the same thing from most people I know.
Every time, I just tell them how wicked the 100mph wheelie I did for like 3 minutes on the beltway was.

Then they sit there for a second, trying to figure out if I am making it up or not. Thats when I just kind of slip out of the room.

err i broke the news to my parents a month ago and they've been telling me to sell the bike EVERY SINGLE DAY.  They know I am a safe driver, but they are worried I might die on the road.  Well, I guess they'll have to accept the fact that I won't sale it.  :) ride safe everyone

My dad and stepmom don't want me to ride as well.  They constantly ask me to consider selling the bike (that I haven't even ridden yet ).  While I understand where they are coming from and I am scared of riding, it's too much fun for me to give up before I really even try it.

You should covertly fish for information on their pasts on something "risky" they've done in their lives and then when they mention your bike again you can bring it up. Also, it's always good to be able to show people all of your gear that you wear everytime you go out on the bike! :P While there's always that inherant risk of dumping the bike, we can do alot of things to help minimize the damage done to ourselves should that uneventful day come.

I only get crap from my ultra-conservative, Buick driving, super anti-risk Dad.  My mom is all for it.  She want's to live her dreams of riding vicariously through me.

I've already got about half the necessary gear, I'm signed up for the MSF BRC - and I'm still a ways away from even starting to actively look for a bike...but I must say, if a Candy Antares Red `96 GS drops into my lap, and I can afford it...I certainly will NOT pass it up!! O0
