In case anyone's interested.  Catherine (my wife  :o) and I got back a week or so ago from our honeymoon in Belize.  Here are the panoramics I was able to create using autostitch (thanks again Kerry).

View of the stream/waterfall that was 25 feet behind our Cabana at Blancaneaux - Francis Ford Coppola's resort in the Mountain Pine Ridge region.

This is at the base of the main temple at Caracol - the largest Mayan ruin in Belize and one of the largest in the world.

This is actually a 360 from the top of the same temple.  We could almost see Guatemala.  It was stunning.  Catherine is in the white.

This is the top of another temple.  It looks down on a ball field.  The tin structure to the right is protecting an original stone carving.

This is standing on our front step at Turtle Inn - Coppola's resort on the Placencia peninsula.  The water was less than 15 feet from our door and that path is actually straight.  Panoramic perspective can be kind of odd I guess.

This is the view on Laughing Bird Caye where we went snorkelling one day.  It's on the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world.  I need to get scuba certified before we go back!!  (Cat moved her head between shots so it looks weird).

Man that is some pretty H2O! A old buddy of mine used to have a tiny dive shop on the
island of Roitan (sp?). Isn't that near there? He wasn't necessarily an unsavory
character but a swashbuckling one indeed. I miss him. My wife and I want to visit
Belieze one day. Is it safe? I know to stay away from Honduras and I know we can't
"pack heat" unless we charter a boat into there. Wife did a printing job for a gentlemen
around there and the lobsters (?) are freaking MASSIVE.
I believe that Costa Rica is pretty safe for us gringos but is English spoken well in
Belieze? Costa Rica? Thanks for the pictures. They are beautiful. One day.
Taxes are Good. Millions that have been on Welfare for the last 30 years are depending on you. Also Millions that are coming over the border each year are depending on YOU.
Also taxes will fix our shitty schools and roads that have been broken for 40+ years.

You really don't get it do you???

just a tip for taking pan-pictures with people in them......

Take the center shot with them in it, have them exit the frame, then without moving your tripod, take two photos, one on each side of where they were.... use photo-stitch... and viola.

Good pics man, makes me wanna visit.

Tripod hahahahaahahahah

i actually started on catherine each time and then went out to the sides.  i had it on continuous and just swung my body.  unfortunately that meant a picture every second until the card was full (i LOVE my camera).

I'll keep that in mind for the future though.  or just ask her to stand still

We found that it was perfectly safe except in the Mountain Pine Ridge Region.  There have been some bandits robbing people in the middle of the national park where Caracol is.  Apparently the Belizean military police and the f'in British RAF which still train there cannot catch the bandits.  But other than that, it was fine.  We just left anything of value (cept the camera) in the room

Yeah - they have carribean spiny lobsters (no claws).  I'll add pictures of them in the reef when i get the underwater camera back.  They're HUGE and very very fast.  Out guide cut his hand on one and got hit in the chest by another that spun and swam in to him hahaha.

is English spoken well in Belieze?

Every single person we met there spoke at least English and Spanish.  Most also spoke one of the many many Mayan dialects (esp Mopan) or Belizean Creole, French Creole, or Garifuna.

I HIGHLY recommend everyone go there.  Err ... nevermind - leave it pristine for Catherine and I to move there :)

TragicImage

uhm, isn't Belize's national language English?

oh, wait. uhhhhh yup....

It is ... but same in the States and not everyone here speaks it :)

They too have a huge illegal immigration problem.  More than 20% of their population is there illegally.

To address the actual question asked ... English is spoken "well" by some people and with a Creole/Mayan flair by most.  I had trouble understanding some of the people but for the most part it did not interfere with the trip.

Good job on the pictures!  The hardest part about panoramas is making yourself take the time to STOP and SHOOT.  Thanks for doing it, and for posting the results. :thumb:
