At a recent trip to a motocycle salvage yard, I stumbled across a fairing on an E model. The windshield had been broken and was completely gone except for a few pieces hanging onto its retaining screws. However, the fairing was not damaged aside from a small scratch on one side.

I would like to use this fairing, but I don't have the windshield for it, nor do I know what brand it is to acquire a replacement.  It is similar to the targa fairing, but it uses four screws to hold the windshield, two on each side, and the sides of the windshild are pretty straight, not flowing outward. The seal around the headlight hole is printed with (upsidedown and backwards "G") a regular G, and the words "Sun Shield."

Any help that can lead me to the original manufacturer would be appreciated!

Mine had a Zero Gravity windshield, which has a G in it... maybe that helps??

If worst comes to worst, you can make a mold of what you need the shield to be like and make your own. It isnt as complicated as it seems, especially if it doesnt need to be optically perfect.

The basics of it are you first make a mold out of wood... Once you do this you need to cover the mold with felt or some other soft material.

Once all that is done get you a peice of plexiglass and cut it a little larger than your mold. remove the plastic and place the plexi centered on the mold in the oven preheated to about 250 degrees. After about 5-10 minutes the plexi will droop over the mold... remove it and hold the plexi in place while wearing cotton gloves.

Once it cools it should hold its shape and all you need to do is trim and drill.

It sounds hard, but it really isnt. Get a thin sheet to try first, and then do the one you will use. 


I'd suggest starting with a thin cheap sheet of plexi to get the hang  of it, then make the final one.

Judging by the lack of response I assume this is a rare item, only available for the 100+ dollars on bikebandit.com. 
I wanted this to be a cheap project so buying that is out.  JonC recommended making one, do you (or anyone) have a link to a howto?  I like the description, but I have never worked with plexiglass or high amounts of heat and I would prefer not to screw stuff up (then again, who wouldn't?) ....and I am a visual learner ( )

Here is a place that has or can make a windscreen for anything. They do custom work but have lots of stock pieces too.
I've had them make a windscreen for me in the past and they are great.
