What do you know about Corona or Temecula?  Honest opinions are appreciated.

If I worked in either of these cities are there any good places to live within 20 to 30 minutes?  Thats what I am really asking.

ugh riverside county.. its teh ghettho area (well that's what I call it) coming from where I live.

Temecula is close to Ortega Hwy (i think), however i am not sure about where on the map it is.. Corona is in San Bernedino or Riverside not sure but I have seen it.

I will find where they are though. The problem with both those cities is that they do get HOT in teh summer, and then they have a smog problem. Safety wise I would say Temecula would be safer, I have heard less of it in the news than Corona. However corona is in the hills and is slightly a richer neighbourhood.

there are plenty of cities in teh 20-30 minute region. Ideally you should live west of work (esp in the areas of teh 10/60/91 freeways) so you can drive east in the morning and avoid bulk of the traffic going west.

Let me look at teh map and tell you where you can live. Riverside county isnt that bad, its just that having living in LA county you do get a bit spoiled.

my ex-girlfriend's ex-boss is up in temecula.  seemed like a nice place when we went to visit.  vineyards and such.

Temecula is quite a distance away from LA.. checking stats.

Temecula is a nice place...Horse ranches and stuff...!/2 way to SD off the 15.

Hey John, I rode San Diego county for 4 days a year ago last April and spend a good 1/2 day in Temeculah.  It looked nice, but then, I was on vacation.  Here's a link with tons of demographics.  Good luck.

A lot of people from the LA/OC area consider "the inland empire" (riverside and san bernardino counties) to be the armpit of so cal.  I think Temecula and Corona are both in Riverside County.  But Temecula is much further south and more rural (kind of exempt from armpit status) and Corona is a bit more populated and ghetto.

Like Manjul said, it' hot out there.  We're having a nasty august heat wave right now... It's about noon here and it's 85 deg where I am near the coast, and over 95 in Temecula.  And the reverse is true when it's cold (that's like 60, here!).

It' closer to the mountains and closer to the desert... and closer to "the river."  So it's also popular for people out there to be into  dirt bikes and sea-doos and big trucks and sunburns and stuff.  A wee bit closer to Vegas too.

In the last 10-15 years, a lot of new houses have sprung up in the inland empire .  As expected they're relatively cheap and pretty good sized.  I remember when I was in high school you could buy places out there for like $80k.  It's not nearly the bargain it used to be, but still generally more affordable.  Many people who work in LA/OC live there and commute.  But this has caused some serious traffic problems around rush hour, adding to the already long drive.

Since you're thinking of doing the opposite, it may not be so bad.  From Corona, a 30 min drive east  could easily get you out of nasty.  Try Yorba Linda, Anaheim Hills, Placentia, Villa Park, Orange.  A toll road was recently built that goes south which also opens up a lot of nice areas in central / so. orange county.  Temecula's more out there - over 30 min from larger cities, but probably a nicer place to live anyway.

In southern california, living 20 to 30 minutes away might be only 5-10 miles.

Well California may hog its share of the sun but it doesn't have the most  :nana: twisties per biker...It may actually be very low on the  :nana: twisties per bikecapita, Now per capita twisties X sun   it may once again be the top...So I guess what I am saying is enjoy :mrgreen: ... But hey add in the Gray Davis Circus, traffic, high cost of living, the mountains, the ocean and take out the humidity...and I am in California...

You guys are sad.  I used to complain about cali weather too, but now I can't wait to get back to the cool coast.  Iraq is no joke, I don't know how people live in 130+ degree temperatures.  I've never lived anywhere else but Riverside, but I can't complain.  It's home.  I can ride every day of the year.  There's twisties, there's straits.  What more can you ask for?  Other than a million bucks, less smog, and cheaper gas.
