Aren't Porsches just expensive VWs anyway? :icon_mrgreen:

pnaberhaus

Just don't put me in the same catagory of the fat cats and Alpha dogs who drive new 911s, Boxsters, Caymens and (yuk) Cayennes. The 914 for me is the automotive equivalent of a GS500, slower than most, but it handles great, doesn't cost too much to maintain, looks distinctive, and has a loyal following whose owners help each other out like friends would do. :thumb:

But back to the original post..............what Ferrari is it? Surely someone knows!

Would I be on the right track if I said Ferris Buellers day off?

No, you should be thinking Steve McQueen  drove the spider version in a movie, the name of which would likely make this exercise too easy for you to find the answer. :icon_mrgreen:

The CEO of VW AG is part of the Porsche family, so it's all tight mafia kinda stuff going on there... actually there are a lot of simularities between VAG and Porsche to this day; ie the Cayenne and the Toureg/Q7 are the same frame, the climate control cluster in a new 911 is almost the exact same cluster as in my A4, Porsche really doesn't race in LeMans anymore because they don't want to compete with Audi/Bently, and god knows what else...

but anyway, I know nothing about Ferraris, so I'm clueless to that one...

'05 GS500 : RU-2970 Lunchbox : V&H Exhaust : 20/65/145 : 15T : LED Dash : Sonic Springs : Braided Front Brake Line : E conversion with Buell Dual Headlight : SW-Motech Engine Gaurds ...

Old Porsche himself designed the first VW....It was a "car of the people" or "Volkswagen" that Hitler wanted. So I guess it would be more accurate to say that VWs are just really cheap porsches

Of course if you follow the car auctions. We are getting to a point were classic Ferrari's will be the cheap buys. Since someone will roll out a time warp 72 Dodge Dart with a 440 Magnum and it wont have air making it worth more. Plus if you look in the engine bay you can see where a can of coke hit the frame while the engine was being installed! In fact there is a picture of this because the union guy who did it used a poloroid and hid the photo under the intake manifold! So it will go for something under $2 million

Next up will be a classic Ferrari which will go for something around 200k. But be rushed through. Because they found a prototype AMC Gremlin convertibl that was only shown at the Kenosha Auto Show for 6 hours!

Have I said how much I love and hate Barret Jackson at the same time?

And a sweet one, at that. i used to want a 914 soooo bad for a first car. i got a bug instead...and spent a year and a half restoring/customizing it. And then dreamed of putting a 914 2.0L (or Type IV) engine in it. Never got around to it. :(

The 914 was available in Europe with VW badges, wasn't it pnaberhuas? And of course in the coveted 6 cylinder.

Here's the Ferrari 275 GTB

Isn't that the same as the New GTO (what was called the new GTO OK forget it ... GTB ... 250 GTO and 275 GTB looked similar ... I remember ...)
BTW there is a cobra ... new complete with aluminum body and a 427 in my neighbors garage ... they have a friend who transpost them and there was some dispute and the buyer didn't take delivery of it. So they end up with it for a few days ... Carroll shelby autograph on the glove box ...
Cool.
