Well regular gas just hit $3.30 a gallon here, premium at $3.50. I sure can't wait for the first hurricane to come along so they can jack the price up to like $5.00!!!        Seems like it won't be to long and it take more than $20.00 to fill up the GS.  :bs:
Being naked was great, but now that I'm older I thought I should cover up!!!!

Mods?  What mods, no really its stock!!

mike_mike

we pay way more than that up here in canada

3.30/gallon is a steal here for gas. we haven't seen those prices in a long time.

yep recently went to canada, its way more for gas. consider your self lucky

You don't have to wait for a hurricane. Thanks to the new war in the middle east ,that would Israel vs Lebanon, the price of crude oil ,specifically sweet crude that the US likes so much, has hit $78 a barrel and is holding. So expect the price of gas to jump another forty to fifty cents.

And yes if you saw what they pay in Europe you would cry. If it hit that much here. Well we americans would just complain louder. And expect a bigger discount on our new Tahoe to offset it.

US$3.30/gal is great! :o I haven't seen the equivalent here in Aus that low for ages. I just filled up today (which coincidentally happed to be reasonably cheap) at AU$1.399/L, or for those who don't want to do the conversions.... US$3.96/gal

Down here in South Louisiana it is 2.80 a gallon. I guess there is always a reference point that one can plug as to how fortunate we are that we don't live in blah blah blah. The real truth of this matter is that it sucks. Those bastards have us where they want us and there ain't gonna be any let-up. It used to take a little over 20 bucks to fill up the Jeep. Now it takes damn near 60.
The cost of gas plus all the damn taxes added to it are killing us. Let us NOT forget "price gouging". I can vividly remember gas being 27 cents a gallon. I realize that all things have risen in price but this recent jump is beyond belief. It is all about profit. And let us not forget those sorry bastards that are supposed to be representing us in Congress have ever so helped all this along.
"Big Oil" has hindered any development of alternate fuel but so have the tree huggers that don't want any more refineries or public utilities being built (on "their" property/state) but expect stability of the system. Damn them all.
Taxes are Good. Millions that have been on Welfare for the last 30 years are depending on you. Also Millions that are coming over the border each year are depending on YOU.
Also taxes will fix our shitty schools and roads that have been broken for 40+ years.

You really don't get it do you???

fodder650

Well about $.50 to $.60 a gallon is state and federal taxes. And it's price gouging it because its a free market and thats how it works. I had really thought that we didn't have an alternative to this. And I even argued this in another thread.

But now that I really think about it. We do. Now I can't trade in my 20mpg Ford minivan because I'm wildly out of equity. But you have to vary the amount you drive. And when you can switch to a more efficient vehicle or motorcycles.

We as Americans believed we were entitled to cheap gas. That it was a right not a privilege. And even our President said as such a couple years ago. While the rest of the world paid through the nose were always around $1 a gallon.  How can you justify oil being cheaper then water?

And no Big Oil hasn't hindered the development of alternatives. And "Who killed the electric car" is a big ole BS movie. Who wants to have a vehicle that goes 100 miles and needs 12 hours to recharge? We as consumers in America speak by buying bigger and bigger vehicles. And even our "hybrids" arent that effecient. Look there are disels that are far better then the Prius. But again we in America don't buy Diesels.

So top blaming the corporations. Stop blaming the government. And go look at your Jeep thats shaped like a brick

Approximately 44% of my paycheck (in my state) go to taxes of some type. In some states, it's even higher. So, you could say that you work until approx. June until just giving the "Government"
its "just" dues. They take our money, loan it away to countries that can't even pay the interest back or they just give it away to some of the most brutal dictators on earth or countries for "their devolpment that will NEVER benefit the USA to the degree that has been given. Then they repeatedly do this on an annual basis. They actually will give 100s of millions annually to farmers to NOT grow. All these are Trillions that they have actually "borrowed" and placed the responsibility on our and our children's backs to repay. Even in our own country, they give "entitlements" to people that give NOTHING back to the economy, pay very little in taxes, and are parasites in every sense of the word. Many have never worked a damned day in their lives. If you or I ran our household/checkbooks like these people (our Government), we'd be put in FU_CKING PRISON!!!!!! GET IT????? It seems the Government's main function is to separate us as much as possible from our pocketbooks. Want to know how much "we" owe? There is something I want you to go read  http://www.toptips.com/debtclock.html
So, you see YES I CAN blame them. I WILL BLAME THEM!! This is "balanced" Capitalism?
I think not. Large Corporations and "Government" is a super problem in this country.
Both are hugely intertwined.

It's either going to take Jesus Christ coming back or a massive blood-letting to get this mess
straightened out. I suggest preparing yourself for some hard times coming for the ordinary masses as our representatives stroll the isles in their 1000 dollar suits, $700 alligator shoes, and 150-300 dollar haircuts. They will take anyone you voted in from your community and turn him/her into a political whore/strumpet overnight. Who do you think they listen to? The little ole lady on Social Security or the whoremonger slipping them 60K under the table?

p.s. I like my big brick. I just don't drive it as much.  :)
Perhaps our representatives should be FORCED to live like those they represent?
Naaaaaaaa.........how on earth could that ever happen...........

GM destroyed the want for a diesel in the us
when they converted a 350 to run on diesel....and it was a turd  and broke

Gm has no f%$king clue...seen the new H-3 comercial....restore your manhood :icon_rolleyes: buy a big gas guzzler

we had a fuel efficient GAS car in the us in the early 90's...91-94 ish GEO metro XFi 59 MPG in a box
yes it was gutless...but it was a box that got 59 MPG
and where did it go....
away.....it wasn't important to get good economy
I still want one....it's a SUZUKI!!!!!!

we don't even get the Smart car....80 MPG out of a 2 cyl diesel  made by M-B even

heck, toyota is advertising the corolla gets a whopping 40 mpg :icon_rolleyes:
my old 1993 del sol got 39-42 MPG

the us public is stupid....lets use all the oil and then figure out what to do next.....later....after I die

how many SUV's that you pass/pass you have only one person in it?

want Iain's money to support my butt in kens shop

fodder650

Wilson,

Oh believe me I know they seperate us from our paychecks. Look at the energy bill as an example. I wasnt saying that. I was saying that a lot of the complains about the cost of oil go to the vehicles we CHOOSE to drive. Like your keep.

Wearase,

Smarts coming in 2008. It will be the fortwo not the forfour. But yes its coming. And add in vehicles like the fit and all the other B class vehicles coming in 2007 and 2008 and its going to happen. Plus their are more diesels coming as well. Although the diesel they are using for the Jeep is the old clanky type. The other companies are bringing over better ones as well.

Personally Id like to see a diesel/hybrid go on the market over here. But again outside of the Prius we don't go for these types of vehicles.

Also remember that with the old Corolla and Civic's. That they didn't have airbags or any of the other safety items we have in our cars today. Such as crush zones that all add weight.

We as GS riders are doing our part for the planet :)

Yeah, I wonder if all of the rest of the world has had there property tax's doubled , home owner's insurance doubled (if you can even find someone that wants to cover you because of were you live), and not even to mention the price of real estate has doubled almost everywhere in the US. Even the price of a loaf of bread as doubled here! And this is only in the past 2-5 years, but yet the American worker's pay scale has not increased very much at all in more than ten years. I'm just trying to figure out what's going on with the United States economy?
I work in law enforcement because my father had his whole life, and he was able to raise a family very well, now in my day and age I would have to get a second full time job to provide for a family the way he did. I would love to have kids one day, but I would also like to be a father to them and be around to see them grow up!!!
