Did you buy the Clymer's manual that only covers up to 2002?

I want to get one for $20 to help out the site, but if there's too much different, I will have to wait.

I'm actually considering buying a Shop Manual for the GS500F.

I don't need much in the way of pictures to help me figure out stuff.

Not really. Only carb stuff, which I never really paid much attention there for it as I learned most of what I know through here. The bodywork removal is different, but that's hardly challenging at all. Aside from that... it's really about the same.

All the stuff I have done so far has been pretty easy though.

So basically, wheel removal, and stuff like that should be the same, right?

I just ordered the manual from the amazon.com link on the main page of this site...

I also signed up for the amazon.com VISA card which gave me a $30 credit...

So I was able to get the manual for $0.87 shipped in TWO days...

AND...

It helps this site out!

Not bad for an $0.87 investment!

A few parts had revisions so there might be some new #'s, but everything preatty much the same. I have not had to get to far into anything on my 05 yet, and other than what has already been said, I think "F" model have an some kind of Rev. limiter device built in somewhere that cuts out the power if you accidently rev to high.
Being naked was great, but now that I'm older I thought I should cover up!!!!

Mods?  What mods, no really its stock!!

I dunno about the rev limiter.  I've redlined plus some... several times, in several gears....

Yeah. The only rev limiter the GS has is valve float.

Sorry guys there is no Rev limiter, I thought I've read here before that F's have one, but my mechanic pal at my dealership just told me NO THERE'S NOT.  My apologies.

The electronics on the F are totally different, but probably not to the point you'd be concerned.  First, there is a single VR sensor on the crank instead of 2 and the crank trigger wheel is a 5+1 wheel (IIRC), instead of a single toothed wheel.  Next there are some extra electronic emission control crap on the carbs including a throttle position sensor and a solenoid valve that does god knows what.  I'm also sure the ECM is totally different, it has to be based around a modern microcontroller as opposed to whatever they did back in the 80's, but this doesn't really matter to us because it's sealed (bummer) and all does pretty much the same thing.

I'm actually surprised there isn't a rev limiter on the F because implimenting one with what is now there would be super easy for Suzuki, as in a few extra lines of code.
