The best ride, ever.

I was coming down from Virginia City, one of the best sets of twisties in the world. (Also in my back yard ahahaha!) And somehow just slipped into the perfect state to ride.

I was only going 5 - 15 over when I remembered to look at that, which on that road soccer moms do. (The limits they set are stupidily low, even for a road that twisty.) And I wasn't thinking fast, but I just lost track of the speedo and started nailing the apex on EVERY TURN. (with consideration to the possibility of oncoming vehicles though....)

Not this, "Wow that turn was good." More like, "Wow...."

I didn't even really notice till the road straightened up again. I didn't force the bike up, I let it raise itself, and instead of wrestling it over like I see most riders doing. Instead of pushing energy around, I was part of it. No awkward moments, no coming in too hot crapping myself.

I think I learned the difference between Valentino Rossi and your local track-day.

I didn't really notice it but as I went down the road I was grinding my pegs more and more, working my trust back up, and this time the right way.

I think I understand why riding is so much better than driving now, because even in my autocrossing days I NEVER felt such a direct connection with the road.
Rich, RIP.
