Blown Head Gasket on New Bike Part 2

As most of you know I had a new GS and the head gasket blew. You can search through the board to find the topic if you haven't read it yet. Anyways, This morning I was riding around and, once again ,had oil all over the place. So I rode straight down to the dealership and told them to come outside and check out their lovely service work. The service guys tried saying that I was running the bike too hard again and must have warped a head or blown the gasket again. Problem is, I haven't had the engine over 4500 RPM's since I picked it up let alone the 5500 RPM's Suzuki says to stay under. Too bad their manager of the dealership told the service department that there is no way I could've possibly blown the first head gasket and definately not a 2nd one or warped a head. She said she's been selling GS' for 10 years and has never had problems like this with their engines. So while the service department were all discussing how it was my fault that the bike was broke and it was bullshit I kept bringing it in and blaming it on them, The manager told me that on Monday she will Call Suzuki and the owner of the dealerships and try her best to get a new GS500 Shipped to me because they have none in stock  because they sell out quickly here. So once again my bike is broken after having it since wednesday but hopefully come Monday I will hear that I am getting a brand new one. Wish me luck guys.

It sucks, but I'm kinda glad to hear you won't have to be dealing with that bike any more.  I would demand my money back and take my business elsewhere.  That dealership is full of shaZam!, and trying to blame you for what's obviously a defective bike is unforgiveable.  Let them know you expect a new bike or a full refund or you'll be consulting an attorney.

Yeah hopefully all goes well on monday and I will be getting a new bike. Theres no way possible i could have f'ed up the bike that much even if I would have tried. The service dept is a bunch of immature kids that are assholes. The manager, whom I never got to speak to until the day I was getting my bike back is very nice. She agrees with what Suzuki and I have said and says it's not my fault. I think the kids in her service dept never bothered to tell her all the problems the biike was having and made it sound like a little oil leak because she seemed to not be too happy when she realized the bike had been there so long.Maybe the service dept and sales dont communicate well aparently. Hopefully she does a good deed and gets me the new bike after talking with Suzuki and the Owners on Monday or I will be getting an attorney.

06, sorry for your grief.

Upside:
Assuming that the engine you got was just FU from the start.  You should get a decent bike.
If you assume that it was a production lot issue, the chance of hitting another one should be small.  If it is a lot related issue, it should hit the Suzuki corporate radar when a bunch of bikes hit warranty in a block.

Glad to hear that your getting a new bike, I've read all your old post and truly does sound like you had a lemon, unfornatly these things do happen, and I'm very sorry it happened to you. I hope the new bike is good to you, and is trouble free for a very long time so you can stay away from that damned dealer.

Glad to hear they're willing to replace it with new one. Get the first services over with in dealership
and then learn to do TLC to your GS yourself,it's most rewarding and you can be sure that the
job is done properly every time(use manual of course Haynes,Clymer etc...)

It's good to know that someone in charge is on your side!  It sucks that you seem to have a bad apple on your hands.   It would be great if one of OUR experts could pull it apart and find the REAL PROBLEM.  There has to be a manufacturing defect in the block or head that nobody has caught.

I wouldn't consider it a good deed if the manager approves the new bike. I would consider it good business practice, as well as the very *least* they should do after all the problems you've had.

I hope everything is clear sailing for you after you get your NEXT new bike. ;)

Let us know how it goes tomorrow!  :thumb:

well turns out the great service dept at the dealer twisted an o ring on the head gasket which caused the leak. Suzuki said to fix it and put a bonding agent on the o rings. So I'm not getting a new bike. I have been on the phone with Suzuki all day. I can't get the dealer or Suzuki to give me anything for this huge pain in the ass. To make matters worse , Suzuki said they have to test drive it for an hour today, so by the time I get the bike back, it will be about time for the 600 mile service, so right back to the shop it goes, and there goes $275 for the service(around here anyways). The dealer is horrible and Suzuki isn't much better right at the moment. Only thing Suzuki has to say is "well the service manager is working on it this time so it should be ok when you get it back".

I am sure the bike will return you tons of fun and you'll soon forget this

Push to have the 600 mile service done for free.  Demand an answer from Suzuki what the next course of action is if the problem arises again.  Check with your state law regarding their lemon law policy. Here in PA if the same problem arises 3 times and it has not been resolved, the vehicle is a lemon.  After the 600 mile check, ride the hell out of it.  Hopefully if there still is an underlying problem you might still be able to catch it under warranty.

That's my 2 cents

Maybe we should all start calling your Suzuki dealer and tell them there really starting to tick off the GS community!!
But I don't want there phone ringing off the hook to keep them from your bike, and hopefully a few thousand mile on your  bike will put this all behind you.

I really don't like hearing this! My bike went in to the shop on July 11th for the same exact problem. I called them today and was told that the parts haven't even come in yet to fix it. So for 2 weeks it has just been sitting there. I'm planning on contacting Suzuki via certified letter to let them know what the problem is and how long it's taking. That way my bases are covered if it turns out I got a lemon. I wonder how many other owners out there are having the same experience with their '06's? 16 more days and they WILL be refunding my money or replacing the bike.

On a side note, does anyone know who decides if it's a refund or new bike? I'm a little leery of taking another '06. I would rather get the money and buy a used, older GS. If it comes to that, of course.
No bike. =(

o f%$k this shaZam!, its a lemon and demand your money back. go buy a ninja 650. and call it a day

nee down mother F***ers

06GSowner

I've got 5 more days till i get to use my lemon policy. and the bike has an extended warranty if it does actually get fixed, kinda glad I bought it now after this shaZam!. I am gonna try to puch suzuki to pay for my 600 mile service at a different shop. But Suzuki has said , well since it was dealer error on the o ring and not directly suzuki, that they shouldn't be at fault. I'm starting to regret buying a suzuki or even a motorcycle period. Not quite as fun as I hoped. Oh and by the way , my bike was not finished today like it was supposed to be, and as soon as I get it back with more paperwork, the paperwork is being faxed to an attorney to see what they can do.

Hey guys guess what. I got my bike back tonight. Dealer sad they test drove it 40 miles w/ no leaks. Turns out it was a 2nd blown head gasket at 430 miles! So i'm like what the hell. So the bike was running fine and looked fine so I took it home. We I was checking the right side for leaks the whole way home since that has been the problem area of the engine. I finally get home and pull into my garage and get off. I look down and guess what I see? Oil leaking out of the LEFT side this time! I called suzuki as soon as I got in the house and they are ,once again, supposed to resolve this issue tomorrow. Wanna place bets on whether or not the dealer blames me for the leak once again since it was "fine" when the rode it 40 miles?! BTW I let the bike warm up for the exact time they said right in front of their doors then I got on and kept it under 4500 rpm's the entire way home. Guess I just rode it too hard again eh? Suzuki rep said he is taking it higher up now. I say hell with that i'm calling an attorney in the morning, enough is enough. Don't think I will be buying another Suzuki after this mess, especially since a few other people have 06's with blown head gaskets. Not a good first motorcycle experience.

06GSowner

Any opinions on my situation tonight ? I'm thinking of saying screw the motorcycle deal and buy a car. Seems to be much less hassle. Really liked the bike the 3 hours or so i've driven it in a month....
