I figured out what happened to my GS...

...when I hit that pothole.

The rear tire got shoved up into the rear fender, causing the fender to hit the bottom side of the seat-latch bracket.  When that happened, the bracket bent upwards, creating the 1/2" gap between the seat and the rear plastics.

All I did was take a 2x4 hammered on the bracket until it was straight again.

Now all I gotta figure out is if the rear shock and axle needs replacing.  I've got both from Ebay and I'm just waiting for the dealer with my rim.

Sounds like an excuse to upgrade to a Katana shock!

I wanted to, but I wasn't sure which would fit with NO MODIFICATIONS.  Plus, I got the stock parts almost brand new for DIRT CHEAP

The '98+ one I got works great and took me 30 minutes to install, including setup of my workspace and cleanup.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, it can't be fixed
