WOW!

Guys I ran from the police...   I didn't really start off with the intention of running but...

Here's the story.

A friend of mine has driving his dads M3 and noticed me.  We pulled over to shoot the shaZam! and upon leaving we decided to run our machine against each other.  He turned off and I kept going to get home.  After the rush I got from toasting that german beast it was hard to loosen my wrist from the throttle.   There it is!  I pass a cop car running about 75 in a 35 zone.  Remember this is tennessee back roads so my 1st reaction was to speed up and take a turn and lose the cop.  In my mind I thought that the cop had to get his car to a stop, turn around and accelarate to get behind me.  So in other words i was just taking a quick turn and not really evading....   Well I went to execute the plan, pegggin the bike out in though every gear to get to my turn.   shaZam!...  I m coming too fast and cant make the turn....so I go straight.  At this point I'm approaching triple digit speeds and realize that the cruiser in about 50 yds behind.  "it's too late" I think.  I pullover at this point and and I get a felony charge.  So i stayed on it hoping the country-road twisties would shake him off.  Sure enough the crown vic. couldnt keep with the the GSJACK-recommended Avon Azaros that just got baptished at Deals gap the weekend before.   Anyways, all this to tell you that i got away.  This thought me one thing:   Don't do it!   It's too damn scary.

I heard stories from friends about losing cops in a pursuit and always thought it would give you the best feeling in the world to outrun the law.  This feeling of invincibility and power...  :bs:
I got home at 1AM put the bike in the garage and proceeded to shake like a little Buddha Loves You.   I turned the light off in my room and looked outside.  shaZam!!  cops cars driving up and down the road and other surrounding areas.
Got in bed around 2:30 and finally fell asleep around 5am well the rest of the adrenaline finally cleared my system....

that'll be something to tell your grandchildren
hmm...... OK :-)

Thats not good.  Karma will come back to haunt you my friend.  You screwed up and will face something.  I'll be the first to tell you how stupid that was.  What would have happend if you hit someone else while trying to run, or crashed your bike and got caught.  You probably woulden't ride again for a long time.  So You got lucky this time but dont do it again!

Or they realized that the way you were riding, they'd either catch-up (then what?  run you off the road?) or there'd be a dangerous chase (mostly dangerous to you, and any motorists you happen by), or else you'd go down all on your own.

Even if you're only tooling along at 50mph, there's not much the cops can do to _make_ you stop, without endangering your life.  You were like a guy juggling chainsaws: sure they could try and stop you... but even if they succeeded, they'd have to stick-around and clean-up the mess.

If I were a cop, I'd choose to just let you get away and hope you'd slow-down.  They'll probably work extra-hard for the rest of the summer, to pull-over anybody on a sportbike for any reason they can think-of, hoping that they'll find somebody without a license on a sportbike that matches the blurry, grainy image from the squad-car camera.

Better hope he didnt get close enough to get your plates..otherwise it doesnt matter how fast you went or how far away you got.

Rema hit it right on the head.

My father-in-law is a retired Philly cop (15th Precinct, Frankford....ewe) and he HATES civilian motorcyclists because someone dogged him in his cruiser one time.

He said that he went out of his way to f<>k with any bike he saw for MONTHS after it happened.

Don't ruin it for the rest of us folks. Pull over and take your lumps next time.

Like i said i had no intention of getting in a pursuit.  I figured that i could accelarate a little and turn off the road before he even had a chance to turn around.

As far as endangering the community:  I passed absolutely no cars.  We're talking rural tennessee roads.

Repent and confess my son.

Jail food is not so bad - and there are a few other perks.

In other words, give your head a shake!

thats why cops hate people on motorcycles.. you may get away once or twice or you never know you might KILL your self or someone ELSE running from the police Is not a good thing to do EVER :nono:  :nono:  :nono:  :nono:  :nono:  :nono:

My advise iS DONT DO IT AGAIN !!!!!

also when you thought about posting this, did you think people were going to be proud of you running from the police??? DONT think so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh one other thing   :guns:

Hey, Rocket,

I am sure people who responded don't mean to slam you on what you posted.  They just want to stress how serious the consequence can be.  And that you, or anyone else, should not react the way you did.  And I think you learned that too.

yamahonkawazuki

hey man pleeeeease dont do again. i ride mine on mostly rural tenn. backroads. last thing i need are bike hatin' cops. ive got 4 that are neighbors. :nono:

wow that sounds real professional of the guy

I don't run from the police and never have but for a cop to take out the frustrations on the other guys just isn't right

Guys...  I didnt need anyone to tell me what to do "next time"
I thought i made it clear that it wasn't really intentionnal.  Like i said i just sped up to make a turn before he could even turn around.

And as far as the alligations that i thought I'd be "cool" for posting this message...   I wouldnt of worded it like that if i was trying to be Billy Bad Ass.  I'm the first one to tell you guys that i was absolutely freaked out by the whole thing.

So listen, this is a motorcycle dis. board and I'm sharing an experience that i had on my motocycle.   I'm not trying to piss anybody off but i just wanted to make it clear that I feel as bad as you do about this and have no intention of trying to get away with it again.

Rema1000

Yeah, I think I could tell from your first post that you had already figured out that it was a bad mistake, done on adrenaline rush and not on jugment or thought.  I just wanted to point-out that, regardless of the fact that, yes, you can outrun a car on a motorcycle, it sounded just as likely that somebody with a cooler head realized what a dangerous situation it was, and backed-off, and maybe prevented an accident.  Which is the job of a safety officer, after all.

Good to keep in mind, because usually riders are the ones who have to provide the "cooler head" to make-up for some cager's temper.

PS: personally, I wave at police :thumb:.  The only reason I can be on the road for more than 5 minutes is because they are keeping the cagers in-line.  I get singled-out by them for riding :bs: , but I really need  them watching or I can't ride at all.

As indicated above by one of your statements you are riding above your ability in that you were not able to judge where you were and were not able to brake in time for your turn.  If you knew the road your were on and knew the bike better then you would of been able to make that turn but it sounds like you were not in control of the situation.

My experience with rural back roads is that there are deer, dogs and most anything just around the next corner and by your statement of time it sounds as if you were riding at night when there is a greater chance to hit such animals.

You do know that most police cars that are involved in traffic stops have dash mounted cameras that might just be able to read the tag number on your bike at 50 yards?????????????

As for doing 75mph in a 35mph zone can you say "Dumb Ass!!!"?

pantablo

that was stupid, you know that. You can make it worse by not learning from yoru mistake. There will be a NEXT TIME...some day. You'll be faced with the same decision. Dont fool yourself into thinking it wasnt intentional...you were shooting for the corner before he had a chance to turn around...may have been able to argue that it wasnt evading, but in your mind it was. whats going to stop you from making that same choice again?

btw-I cant remember exactly but dont you have your license plate facing downward? If so, I remember thinking, maybe saying, how that was for evading the police.  Better hope they didnt get your plates and watch your 6's-he'll be looking for you.

Agreed, many folks dont INTEND to do some of the things they do.  we call these things Mistakes, or to be PC,  non use of Sound Judgement. we sometimes see folks on TV shows like COPS, gonna get a ticket for a brakelight and they run, frankly that ticket is easyer to pay, i can show a copy of my driving record for those who doubt me. the clerk of the courts offer ME doughtnuts and coffee. anyway unless he was setup spec for ONcoming traffic clocks   (very hard to get it to stick BTW) he could have stroked you for some of the following:

Careless driving (not to hard to fight)
reckless             (same as above)
Failure to use sound judgment (yes this is an infraction in some area's)
aggressive and careless driving (yes its a sep charge from careless)

depending on state, could be more charges.

the thing is, everyone has  moments when they screw up.  Even cops know this. But they like to see that YOU reconise that you screwed up, and the judgement you use after that point can make a big difference in how you pay your dues.

Granted i havent found many cops in my town that wernt totaly A$$HOLES, bordering towns and the state troopers have all been Ace's even when they nailed me and charged me, I personaly think they lowered the bar for my town and catch all the mental rejects that Flunk the Psyc tests for everywhere else. even the wemen cops have hard on's .

this is indeed a sad outlook for me to have, specialy as my father was a cop for 17 years. funny thing is, he is as much a missfit as i am.

ANYWAY, be prepared, you may oneday get pulled over one day for something simple to find, You DIDNT get away completely.

i have seen cops at the airport ask folks to keep their cars moving at the terminals, they give a ration of shaZam! before pulling off, first thing the  does  is pull out the ticketbook, write down tag, make, color, and finnish filling out the ticket. 6 weeks later there is a bench warrent for non complience/NO SHOW for court. im sure its dirty, but, you werent there to dispute it. Guilty by default

PLZPLZPLZPLZ take care in future.  peace
Accelerate like your being chased, Corner like you mean it, Brake as if you life depends on it.
Ride Hard...or go home.

Its you Vs the pavement.....who wins today?

South East Rocket

Yes.  I know what i did was wrong.   And for the record:  It will not happen again.

Lessons learn:
1-Don't speed in the 1st place
2-Don't run.  I know I won't always be lucky enough to experience the "best case scenario" as I did that time.
