Fieldsheer mesh held up fine for me in a 50mph lowside. You'll be fine. Enjoy it.

I believe you. I got it in the mail today & damn, the thing is beefed up with armor. It has not one, but TWO back protectors.  :thumb:

 You know what? You guys kill me. I mean; if you can answer the question, answer it. But kindly remind the member to use the search function. You don't have to be an asshat about it.
I have been around this forum for quite sometime now, and I've seen and heard things that are just plain mean. If YOU think the question is dumb or has been posted over and over again.....DON'T REPLY!(Is everyone familiar with this method?)
Okay then, BTW; I love you guys
Oh, yeah

LPC2104

Hello my name is Ben, and I'm not a squid.
I have gone over trip digits many times on my new 'busa (upgraded after I mastered little bikes).
I usually wear my helmet unless I honestly forget.
I've scraped pegs and everything else once.
Not only do I care that my gear matches, but I was going to have someone custom paint my helmet.
I ride without a license or a valid permit.
I'm safer than most motorcyclists out there because I always ride in groups.

On a serious note.  I'm really new to the forum and everyone has been a lot of help to me.  AJ was actually the first person to help me out with a petcock question the night I got my bike.  This forum has probably saved my life.  Before I found this I didn't even know about gloves, boots, different kinds of protective materials etc.....  I was looking forward to getting a bike, riding in great weather in sneaks shorts tshirts, with my wife on back.

A lot of squidliness is due to ignorance.  I'm very happy that many of you educated me regardless of it being through the search, a direct answer, or a more bold response from our more bold members.

Codger

I'm Codger and I must be an "F"ing squid.
I'm 44 and have been married half my life, so I fit into the young punk group.
I got the faired model becus it is so kul and the fact that I rode a DRZ400 360 miles on a weekend at highway speeds in a flattrack tuck.
I have done beagle wheelies in my underwear.  Search "beagle wheelie" for further clarification.
I got my first ticket in 3 years on the F.  Illegally parked without permit on campus.
I have run triple digits on a public road, which with my speedo error actually works out to 90 MPH, 10 mph over the predominant road speed.
I have scraped my pegs, on the garage door frame pushing it out.
I have a full set of gear, every item of a different color or manufacturer, including gloves.
I wave to every 2 wheeled vehicle on the road.
My chicken strips are 2" wide.  3200 highway miles in seven days will do that.

I apologize that my fairing and devil may care lifestyle poses a hazard to the peace of mind of the E or less aficianados.

He said "I don't know man, ah she kinda funny, you know".  I said "I know, everybody funny, now you funny too".  JLH OB,OS,OB

Acerbis dual sport lights, Progressive springs, Racetech Emulators, Kat600 shock, SW Motech rack, FIAMM 130dB horn, rejetted, Uni Socks, Fly 1010 Yam bars, Acewell 2803.

Queso

Soy el Queso. I'm a somewhat safety conscious squid.
I'll always wear my helmet when riding, law or not. I don't think with any other parts of my body, so when it's potential scrapes vs. guaranteed heat stroke - I gotta ditch some gear (but never the helmet).
I like to take turns as fast as I safely can (after being well aware of the surroundings, and I take blind corners slowly)
I don't think I ever acclerate slowly. Anywhere.
Yes, I want a bigger, faster bike. But the wisest move is to ride my GS til it fails or is wrecked beyond reasonable repair, and that's the plan.
I have yet to scrape any pegs, but oddly enough, I got no chicken strips anymore after getting the BT45's.
I ride dangerously, but it's a calculated risk.

Mesh gear - wise investment. Fieldsheer mesh can be had for under $100 on eBay. Shorty gloves can be had for less than $50. Add jeans and some decent athletic shoes and you're set.
