Um....Is there some sort of device I can build that I can just hook a hose to and it will despense gas....Kinda like those things at the hospital that hold bags of liquid and it attaches to an IV. I wanna build one that attaches to my gas line so I can pop the carbs in and out and test them without having to @#$! around with my tank..

any suggestions before I get started. I remember reading about it on here, although I have no idea what to search under.

$7 - go to auto parts store, and buy a large vehicle radiator overflow catch can.
Of if you're sheap like me ... but a radiator overflow can off any damn thing from a junkyard.
Cool.

Just rest your tank on top of the frame.

Option #2 is to roll a bench or something over to your bike and get 10' of fuel line.  Put the tank on the bench in "prime" and hook it up.  Why make another special tool you have to store somewhere?  Combined with a home-built water-manometer-on-a-broomstick you'll be looking hick!   :thumb:
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

word. Can someone tell me. Since the system is a vaccuum it doesn't matter if the fuel is lower than the carbs it will suck it out right? I made this a while back but it sits lower than the carbs. Can I just hook a long hose up to it?

The vacuum only opens the diaphragm.  It's gravity-fed.  You're gonna' hafta' put 'er on blocks, Jethro!

Common sense in not very common.

The tank needs to be at roughly the same height as it's location on the frame.  Gravity feeds the fuel to the float bowls.

Went to autozone and home depot.

here is what I bought (pics below)

Coolant recovery system $9
4' Hose $.79
2 Barbed nipple to 1/2" adapters $2
1/2" Ball joint $3

total $15 or so. not sure where/how I'm going to mount it.

Jared

The bigger autozone overflow thing  has a universal kind of  bracket included that you can just bend around at the top and it will hang from your  bar/grip ( clutch side..).....

Here's kerry's old post...he hung his from the mirror.... I prefer the grip....it all works.

They have the "professional" ones that cost 50-80$ or more that look like the big IV Bottles....

is it cool if I bypass the petcock and run it right into the carbs? I'm trying to get the vavle as close to the carbs as possible

Jared

Yeah that's fine.. you just need fuel to the carbs and the vacuum line plugged or left attached to the  factory petcock...

I usualy just hook to the line between the carbs and petcock....

Yes, you can run it straight into the carbs.  I just use a lawn mower tank I salvaged from the local engine repair shop.  It's about the size of a shoebox and works great.
