And shepards we shall be, for thee my Lord, for thee.  Power hath decend forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command.  We shall flow a river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be.  In nomine Patris, et Filius. . .

Spiritus sanctus.

'03 VTR1000F, a/k/a Super Hawk 996.  Picked it up from the dealer yesterday.  Traded in the SV.  This bike. . . is amazing.

Another GStwiner, Destro, joined me for the maiden voyage.

Put lots of miles on last night.  It now has 500 miles total.

Nice pics... I  definitely have a ten foot bike, needs a good washing.  Surprised you didn't get to 600!!! How many gas stops did you have to take?

yeah that is a real nice looking bike.  Blue is one of the best colors on it IMO.

Actually. . . I've an 1/8 of a tank left.  It was getting so late.  You know, you either worry about drunks or deer.   So I finally parked it.  But I couldn't sleep.  I wanted to ride it some more.

I took it by and showed it to my GF.  She liked it better than the SV.

Brand new 03?  My dealer has 2 new 03's too.  odd.  I think people either love or hate the Super Hawk, I love it :thumb:

I bet it sounds great...  I think that was Pablos #2 pick...

Actually, they had three new '03s.  Mine, another stock one, and one with full system Jardine, stage 1 dyno jet kit, and a full lower fairing.  But that last one cost $2000 more than mine.  So. . .

This bike really is fun to ride.  It is a lot easier to ride than the SV.  The suspension is better.   And that motor. . . sheesh.

It sounds good.  Stock exhaust, so it isn't loud.  But it is pretty deep.

This bike is good at accelerating.

Every time Jake touched the throttle the front end got pretty light!  I was leading and when he would accelerate, I thought he was flashing his brights, nope, just the front end getting up.  Sounds awesome too.

How about that YZF, now that is HOT, carbon fiber Wileyco exhaust, frame sliders, and Zero Gravity double bubble.  Girl at work said my bike was cooler because I had a tinted windscreen, time for mods Jake.

No, you're bike is cool.  For sure.  The new exhaust sounds good, BTW (for an I-4, heee heee).  Thanks for meeting me at the dealership.  You made the buying experience a little more comfortable for me.  Somebody to talk to while I waited on the paper work.

They were saying one the Super Hawk forum that it would wheelie at 2500 rpm.  That's pretty much BS.  But I have a feeling that if I wanted it to wheelie in first or second gear, it would.

I do need a tinted DB.  It is impossible to get behind the stock windscreen.  I had my chin on the tankbag and my face was still above the windscreen.

that was pablo's #1 pick actually. The reason they have so many new older models in the showroom is because usually it doesnt make sense to buy one new. They are completley (absolutely) unchanged from the original in 1998 (save for a few color choices). And you can pick up a 01 with few miles for $5k. And that one would include aftermarket pipes since almost everyone makes that upgrade...that bike NEEDS pipes-sounds SO good with them (I recommend Jardine). A bit softly suspended but thats easy to take care of.

Bike feels really narrow too-I mean, it felt narrower than my 01 gs500! Still one of my all time favorites. Great bike JakeD. Congratulations.

Thanks Pantablo.  I really appreciate it.

I didn't even want them to start up the one with the full system Jardine.  I knew I'd end up getting it instead.
So I refused to listen to it.  It was like having a naked woman standing right behind you and refusing to turn around.

The sales manager at the dealership uses a Super Hawk for racing.  I am pretty sure I saw some Hawks at the Big Twin race at Heartland Park.  Didn't know what they were at the time.  I'd never seen one before last week.

I am scared to do exhaust because I don't want to rejet.  I just don't think that it will ever run the same after that.  But I probably will when the warranty is up.

You can see kind of how narrow it is in this pic.  One thing I can say is that the frame right by your legs gets kind of hot because that rear cylinder is right between those rails, aiming right up at your junk.

btw-I have a ton of superhawk/vtr links that I'll post when I'm back at the office. The only complaint anyone ever has about the bike is the tank range. And one guy (watanabe?) makes carbon fiber bodywork, including a larger capacity tank ($1800 for the tank!). Beautiful stuff.

I think that's more than a lot of us paid for our entire bike.

I was actually going down the freeway and I looked over and saw that thunder head.  I was like, "Great raven's beard!"  So I pulled to the side of the road on an off ramp and snapped a couple photos.  That was an impressive storm.

There is always freaky ass clouds like that in Missouri and Kansas.

Dude!  that's awesome.  I'm living up in Idaho for the time being, but I will likely be back in Kansas City by the end of the year, at which time I will get a new bike.

I'll assume the SV you had was a 650.  Have you ridden the SV1000?  I need to decide what bike I want next..

I'm thinkin: SV1000(S), Speed Triple, Superhawk (its carb'ed right?), 919, or Monster S2R

I need some help in this decision, and if I hear "get a buell" one more time, I'm gonna lose it.
