'03 VTR1000F, a/k/a Super Hawk 996.  Picked it up from the dealer yesterday.  Traded in the SV.  This bike. . . is amazing.

Dude!  that's awesome.  I'm living up in Idaho for the time being, but I will likely be back in Kansas City by the end of the year, at which time I will get a new bike.

I'll assume the SV you had was a 650.  Have you ridden the SV1000?  I need to decide what bike I want next..

I'm thinkin: SV1000(S), Speed Triple, Superhawk (its carb'ed right?), 919, or Monster S2R

I need some help in this decision, and if I hear "get a buell" one more time, I'm gonna lose it.

They've got a couple more Super Hawks at Dell's Honda, real cheap.  Those guys were awsome to work with.  They gave me a good price on my SV650, too.

I didn't ride the SV1000.  Nice bike, but I really didn't like the ergos of the 650, and the 1000 isn't much different, if at all.  And it is just so similar.  And I wanted to try something new.  Not to be an ass, but the Super Hawk is the bike of choice on that list.

You can get it cheaper than the Speed Triple.  Maintenance is better than the Ducati (first valve inspection, 16,000 miles) and it is a Honda.  And better ergos than the SV1000.  My $.02.

Thanks for the links, pantablo!  Much appreciated.  I am trying to learn all I can about my new bike.  I didn't have a chance to research it much before I bought it.

Destro:

Would you mind riding by my loft a couple times this weekend while I am out of town?  You know, just to make sure the bike is okay.  It is near the gate, just inside the parking garage.

Thanks, broseph!  How about a hooligan ride next week?  Maybe red carpet the Shawk at Fuel bike night?

No problem!  Did you get 600 miles on it yet?  Should be able to go to Fuel next week, last night before the wife has to go back to work.  PM the address, so I am sure I go to the right spot!

PM sent.

I had to spend time with Eva last night because I'll be gone all weekend, so I only had an hour to ride.  Closing in on 600 miles.  I'm going to schedule my oil change for next week.

Here I come, Spooner.  Spooner doesn't know about the new bike yet.
