Today I did my wash, and halfway through the dry cycle I'm like, "Where is my phone?" Then I get a sinking feeling and BOLT of the apartment complex's laudry room, already knowing I'm too late.

I get down to the midway landing between first and second floors and just jump off into a flat run, I fling open the dryer, extricate the phone and desperately try to turn it on. (Knowing that it's totally hopeless at the time, but trying anyways.)

Needless to say the phone was dead.

I had that phone for over two years. It has always been my only phone. My score at Astro-Smash was around 1 million points.

I'm actually sad about it.

Tomorrow, with money I don't have I have to go buy a new phone. Grr....

Open the phone up, disassemble as much as you can, and let it sit out.  It may very well work once it's dried off.  If it's got soapy water all over it, give it a rinse first (except the battery).  If it's already dead, rinsing won't hurt it...

I've droped cell phones in water before even went swimming with one in my swim trunks once    try doing what aaronstj said you would be surprised how often they come back to life.

I dropped my old motorola in the toilet, gave it a day to dry out and it started back up.

Even if the phone is dead, the SIM card most probably has survived the ordeal.

Actually most of the times cell phone will survive a dip pretty well. The key is to resist the urge to turn it on when it's still wet.

Next time DO NOT turn it on, open the case and dry everything as much as you can with a microfiber cloth, then air-dry it at least a few days before putting it back together.

dropped one of my phones in water many many times.  As long as you take away power (pull battery out) to prevent shorts and let it dry completly it should be alright.  If its too late at least you tried.

My ipod nano went through the washer and the dryer, i gave it a day, charged it and it worked perfectly..then i was plaqued by the stupid nano screen issues that werent caused by washing it so I have to bring it back and they'll give me a new one.

Circuit boards are actuallly submersed in liquid during their creation... Nothing out of the ordinary, your phone probably liked the bath... Let it dry off like the others have said, it should start up fine.... Don't let it happen again though... mmmmmkay.

pack it in a ziplock bag full of dry, uncooked rice for a day or two.  It will pull all the moisture out, but if its fried, its fried.

A long many years ago, I dropped my pager (yeah, THAT long ago) in a glass of Orange Juice!

I figured if it was fried who cares...   And proceeded to drop it into a glass of water...  That night I took it apart and let it dry out.  The next morning it worked fine.

I still have to carry a freaking pager for work.  It can get emails.  My boss is annoying.  I have tried to kill it and succeded once, thats how i got a pager that gets emails

I hope you started using the headset after it dried out.  Not sure I'd want to put it up next to my head after retrieving it from the pooper...
