Is that saying $299 for one?  As in one intake.  So, it would cost 600 to do a gs?

Looks facinating.

Well the GS needs just 1. I'd cram it in the air box right in the filters mouth. I'd rather not put it any closer to the motor...If somehting breaks you are toast...Yea BTW you wont be able to sit in the stock position cos this tube thing will be there and it needs a lot of air. Prolly cheaper to buy an SV 650...
Cool.

Ooooh, an upto 5% increase in power! .05 x 40 horsepower = a potential 2 hp increase!
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

Hmm, I could loose a few pounds and make up that difference.  Save a few bucks on food too.  :thumb:

another thought on this
jabba and i were talking about this thing and compairing it to cars (fuel injected and carburated)  on a fuel injected car the supercharger goes before fuel is introduce to the mix, while a carburated car has the carbs sitting on top of the super charger increasing the psi of the air fuel mixture and this thing seems like it is spinning at a set speed (but i don't know).  while on a car the motor turns the supercharger increasing the psi throughout the entire rpm range of the motor.

just some of our thoughts

Looks like those scams that went around ebay awhile ago boasting about an inline "electric supercharger" and they were really parts off of a boat pump or something of the same effect.

In practice it doesn't seem feasible that an electric fan is capable of compressing enough air to truly increase power levels of your engine, otherwise I'm pretty sure automakers would have put them in their cars a long time ago.  I think there is a reason that blowers are mechanically driven.

And good luck scrounging up an extra 50 amps from the weensie GS charging system.   AND getting the jetting right, if it works at all with a CV carb.  Wait...am I being too negative?  I think one of the GS twin officials should do it and get back to us.

You don't need 50 amps from the charging system. It is supposed to only be used momentarily, so the draw is "like your starter motor". You would have to build a box around the carbs, so the float bowl would get pressurized too, to get the jetting to work on and off.

A lot of $ and work for a momentary 1 psi boost.

The reason superchargers are mechanically driven, and turbochargers use the expanding exhaust gases, is you really need 5,000W or so of power to achieve reasonable boost numbers. That is a lot of electrical power at 12V, with losses at the generation and motor.

If you want more power, it's probably cheaper to buy an older supersport bike. I've seen an article of a guy that raced a GS500E with a lot of modifications. It had a modified GSXR1100 cylinderhead (inner 2 combustion chambers), extra oilpump for the GSXR (oilcooled)head and a redesigned  crank because the stock crank would break 3 times a racing season) He also made a lot of modifications to the frame and brakes but he still couldn't win from the SV650's.
