... the header bolts were loose???

I think this might be the reason my bike is sounding "deeper" after fixing the rear rim.

What happened was I put a cinder block and some wood under the gs (towards the rear) to prop her up.  I removed the rear tire, but in order to do so, I needed to unbolt the exhaust from the footpeg.  I let the GS sit like that for about an hour.  When I put her back, I realized that the bike's weight was sitting on the pipes leading to the headers.

Is the pipe pinched where the weight was setting on it?  Usually a leak at the head sounds like a "tick-tick-tick-tick" sound.

I want my bike to sound deeper!  Maybe I'll just bottom it out on a curb or a set of stairs or something.  No?

It seriously just sounds like a slightly different can installed.  That's the best I can describe it.

Kick ass!  Free mod!  I'm going outside right now to jack my bike up by the exhaust.

I had two header bolts loose once upon a time.
The flanges kept rattling, and it sort of drove me nuts.
The sound wasn't any different at all

I've been riding for the last three days, and the sound definitely changed somehow.  It no longer sounds like the lawnmower it is.

I'm looked at the pipes, but nothing wrong.  I'm tried to tighten the header bolts, but they don't budge.

Oh well

The baffle in the can could have broken...   :dunno_white:

I imagine that if the baffle were damaged, then it should rattle instead of producing a slightly deeper tone
